ARE YOU THE GODLY FATHER, INDEED?

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.2:14-25

More Scriptures: Col. 3:21, Ps.22:4, Jer.11:4

The subject of fatherhood is very important to the success of the good and godly husbandman. It is one of the aspects of the husbandman that defines how much influence you will have over your wife and children. From Scriptures, fatherhood is the platform God has provided for you to transfer God’s nature, your person and your tomorrow to your sheep. And if you can truly take personal responsibility to become the good and godly father indeed to your wife and children, your future shall be peace and quietness.

But who is a father and what makes him the good and godly father? A father is an IDENTITY, a MALE FIGURE who PROVIDES PROTECTION, STRUCTURE, MORAL VALUES, BLUEPRINT, VISION and PURPOSE for the FAMILY.

Now, anyone can be a father, but it takes a responsible, committed, sacrificial and God-fearing man to be the good and godly father. The real father makes all the positive difference in the child’s life. He is a pillar of strength, support, and discipline. His work is endless and oftentimes thankless.

That you have children is not what gives value to your fatherhood. Being the real father is more than having a child that bears your name. Your true worth is determined by how much work you are willing to engage in as demanded by God in His word in the direction of your children. You can only proof your worth as the good and godly father in the lives of your children by your conduct, attitude, values and sense of responsibility. There are two Scriptures I want you to meditate on and use as your anchor as the godly father. The first is Deuteronomy chapter 6:4-9. The second is Ephesians chapter 6 and verse 4.

You are more than a sperm donating agent. You are the good and godly father. Your child or children are seeds from God. God will hold you accountable for what you did and did not do with the children He has blessed you with. You are the agent of godly change in the lives of your children. Make all the positive difference in their lives.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me to discover my role as the godly father of my family.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live up to my responsibilities as the head and father to my children and wife.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, strengthen my faith to walk in authority in all the affairs of my family life as the father.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I take full responsibility to become the father indeed to my wife and children and I break every root of irresponsibility because I want to be the good and godly father in Jesus name. Amen.
