YOU ARE THE SPIRITUAL COVERING

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jn.3:14-17

More Scriptures: Jn.8:11, Jn.14:18, Jn.16:24

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but THAT THE WORLD THROUGH HIM MIGHT BE SAVED. (Jn.3:14-17)

The Bible passage tells us about the role Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, plays in the life of His bride, the Church. It says that the world was saved through him. That means He is the saviour. It also means that He is the spiritual covering of the church. Now, because God has made you the head of your family, you have the same anointing to be the spiritual covering over your wife and children (Eph.5:23-25).

As the good and godly husbandman, you are the shepherd of your wife and children. The same way the arrival of Jesus Christ brought salvation to mankind is exactly the same way your presence in the lives of your wife and children should provide safety for them. God sent you to your wife and children as a savior and an agent of joy and not sorrow. You are in their lives to lift their burden and not multiply their pains. You are in their lives to show forth the works of righteousness. God did not command you to lead your wife, children and family to destruction. All you are and all you will ever become must be for the blessings of your wife and children.

The word of God says of your perfect example, Jesus. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10). As the good and godly shepherd, do your wife and children celebrate you in their lives? Do they see you as a positive addition or a burden? Is your life’s conduct a true reflection of what God commands you to do as the godly man, husband and father? Are you doing the works of righteousness? These are questions you must spend time to think about.

As the head of your family, you must understand you are the spiritual covering over your wife and children and sheepfold. You must protect and continue to protect your wife and children from satan, sin and the world. You must daily build your sheep up in the word (Eph.6:4). And you achieve this task by spending time in praying for them (Lk.18:1, Gal.4:19). You must also give attention to study the word of God so that you can discover what God wants you to do. And as you engage in these godly steps toward becoming a spiritual covering over your wife and children, you are leaving behind a lasting positive legacy for them.
