START BUILDING LASTING LEGACIES

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Sam.3:12-13

More Scriptures: Ps.133:2, Rom.12:3, Acts 10:1

Welcome to the 11th month of the year 2021. I believe God that God has been faithful all through the past 10 months of the year, notwithstanding what your circumstances are telling you. I pray that the last 2 months of this year shall be crowning season for you in Jesus name (Ps.65:11, Is.45:1).

But what must you and I do as good and godly husbandmen in these last days of this year? You and I must run to begin to build new legacies of godliness and honour. As the head of the family, the worst legacy you would leave behind as the head of your family is to run with dishonor and disrespect. Most times as husbandmen, our actions and inactions paint a dishonorable picture of who we are. If you read the Scripture in 1Sam.3:12-13, you would discover the tragic story of a husbandman who did not run with dignity. Although he was a priest, he over-indulged his children. He assumed a lot for his sons. He did not draw the lines that his sons must never cross. Sadly, in the end, God was unhappy with him and he and his children paid with their lives. In Acts 5, the Bible also gives a graphic description of a husbandman who did not run with dignity. His name was Ananias. His real character showed up when money was involved. He lied or rather he didn’t speak the truth from an inward heart. His wife joined him and both of them paid with their lives.

As the godly leader in your home, your integrity is very important to God more than anything else. Infact, your true character is as important to God as your life. Why is this so? It is because your inward and outward life will always rob off on your wife and children. In Ps.133:2, the Bible says that it is like the precious ointment upon the head that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard that went down to the skirts of his garments (Ps.133:2).

But how do run with dignity and dignity? Firstly, you must accept the full demands of Scriptures (Deut.28:1). You must do all that God commands you to do as the godly man, husband and father. Secondly, you must be determined and committed to be like Jesus in every way possible. In Rom.12:1-3, the word of God says, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith (Rom.12:1-3). This means that on a daily basis, you partner with the Holy Spirit, to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. Thirdly, you must contend with every form of ungodliness in prayers and fasting (Mk.9:27-29). You must understand that you are wrestling not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in high places-forces that want to defile your heritage as the good and godly shepherd to your wife and children.

You hold the ace. God has empowered you to be like Him to your wife and children. God wants you to start building good and godly legacies, beginning from today. Therefore, you must run with a sense of purpose and dignity for the good of your wife and child, and humanity.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of darkness aimed to defile my life.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me a large heart to honour You and Your words in all things and always.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a dignified and honorable life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have made up my mind to run my life and family honorably and in the fear of the Lord because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
