RESPONSIBILITIES MAKE A LEADER

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2Tim.2:4-6

More Scriptures: 1Tim.5:8, Eph.6:4, Deut.6:10

Responsibilities make a leader effective”. This is one truth I discovered quite early and it has helped me and continues to help me appreciate the privilege God has given to me to lead my wife and children and in the market place of life. This truth also helps me to accept complete responsibility for the lives of my sheep. If my family succeeds, it is my gain. If it fails, it is my fault.

The word “head” connotes leadership and responsibilities. As the good and godly husbandman, God has entrusted the lives of my wife and children into my hands. You owe them the singular privilege to reproduce the very life of Christ at work in you in them. The husbandman that laboureth…(2Tim.2:6). Your call unto the office of the husbandman is truly a call unto greater works. If you must succeed as the good and godly husbandman, you must embrace sacrifices, commitments, determination and discipline. You must also be intentional in doing what God commands you to do to your wife and children as the godly man, husband and father.

Let this understanding from Scripture stay with you. Firstly, you are called to lead and not to be led. This would require you to provide the needs of your wife and children. You cannot and must never claim to be the head if you cannot provide for your family. Infact, it nullifies your faith (1Tim.5:7-8). It is time to wake up and take up the challenge of all that the office of the husbandman demands. Secondly, you must engage the power of the Spirit of God to deal with fleshly tendencies such as indiscipline, selfishness, laziness and excuses.

The office of the husbandman is a honourable one. God made it so because it is the only platform He has provided for you to demonstrate His nature as the good and godly husbandman to your wife and children. The grace you need to succeed is in the office. God wants you to cooperate with Him so that you can live a honourable life as the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every satanic force that wants to make me irresponsible.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me of a quick and good understanding as the godly husbandman.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, build me up in honour and dignity as I lead my wife and children and amongst men.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have made a covenant with God to do all that He commands me to do to my wife and children because that is what makes me a responsible, good and godly husbandman to God, my wife and children and in the marketplace of life in Jesus name. Amen.
