ENTREAT THE LORD FOR YOUR SHEEP

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Judges 13:6-8

More Scriptures: 1Cor.14:14, Matt.1:20, Lk.1:35

One of the main responsibilities you owe your wife and children is to help them seek clarity from God through the Person of the Holy Spirit. This helps them overcome confusion in the journey of life. And that is what we would dwell on briefly, today.

Then Manoah entreated the Lord and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born(Jdgs.13:8).

Manoah and his wife had no child. They were mocked. Someday, his wife had angelic visitation. He was not around when the angel visited. When his wife told him, he did something remarkable, which is the hall mark of a matured and godly husbandman. He sought the Lord on behalf of the family. And he got it.

As the head of the family, you hold the key to the success or failure of your family- your wife and children. Your headship has put you in a position where you are ordained to provide spiritual guide and charting a glorious destiny for your wife and children. There are things that your wife and child may have told you. There are some encounters that they may have explained to you. Is it a dream they have shared with you? Could it be an expectation that they may have shared with you concerning their academics, relationships, business, spirituality, e.t.c.? Whatever they may have told you, it is important that you do what the husbandman in our main text did-he made spiritual enquires from God. The Bible says, Manoah entreated the Lord.

A lot of the times as heads of our sheepfold, we have neglected the most important responsibility that we have towards our sheep, which is reconfirming and interceding for them. And this has made our sheep to wander without making any appreciable advancement, spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. In the story of Joseph and Mary in Matthew chapter 1, the husbandman, upon discovering that his wife was pregnant, enquired of the Lord. In verse 20 of Matt.1, the Scriptures say, but while he thought on these things, behold an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Just imagine if he did not make further enquiries from the Lord, he may have driven the wife out of the home and lose out in the chance of being part of a good testimony, which the world is celebrating up till now.

Please, good and godly husbandman, don’t leave your wife and children without a higher spiritual input, which must come from you. You are there to lead them.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

•           Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to uphold my wife and children in deep intercession.

•           Father, in the Name of Jesus, strengthen my prayer altar for the good of my wife and children.

•           Father, in the Name of Jesus, hear me when I call and show me deep things about my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I accept my priestly role and faithfully entreat the Lord, My helper, on behalf of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
