THIRST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS

Bible Texts: Is.51:1-2, Gal.3:13, 2Cor.9:8, Ps.42:1

The same way you thirst after alcohol and other ungodly things, I want to encourage you to thirst after what is right from God’s standards. As the head of the family, it is what you pursue that comes to you and your family. And it is what you thirst after that determines what quenches the thirst. You must understand that the life of your wife and children are dependent on you and your conduct. And it has a way of robbing off on them both in the way they conduct themselves within and without.

In Matt.5:6, the Scriptures say, blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. You cannot be filled with the capacity to do what is right to your wife and children until there is a desperate desire in your heart to want to do good to them. There are some husbands who have taken their responsibility as the head of the family casually and have become victims of divorce, separation and bitterness.

Every day when you wake up, you must desire to abound unto good works according to 2Cor.9:8.

In Is.51:1-2, the Word of God says that hearken to me, ye that FOLLOW AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS, ye that seek the Lord, look unto the rock whence ye are hewn and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. Look unto Abraham your father and unto Sarah that bare you…….. Abraham was a husband like you and I. But one thing that distinguishes him is his righteous walk with God. And by redemption you and I have become the seeds of Abraham (Gal.3:10-13). Your hallmark as the head of your family is holiness and righteousness. Therefore, as the leader of your home, you cannot sacrifice your wife and children for the pleasures of the world.

But how do I thirst after what is right as the leader in my home? The first thing you need to do is to open yourself to God by telling Him those areas of your life that you are struggling with. It may be your struggle with adultery, anger, pride, bitterness, stealing and much more. It is only when you come to God truthfully that He will show you mercy and extends help to you so that your life of purity and righteousness will impact on your wife and children positively.

Make your life count by investing your resources, time, money and energy in the things that pertain to life and godliness and watch your life and relationship with your wife and children blossom like a tree planted by the rivers of water.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by Your blood, drive out every intruder that have gained access into my life and home.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, close every opening through which the devil has entered my life and home.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver my life and that of my wife and children from ungodly influences.

FAITH CONFESSION

I will seek after what is right towards my wife and children at all times because I am a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
