Yesterday, the Holy Spirit laid the foundation for the God’s kind of wisdom to deal with your wife. Today, let us look at one of the wisdom keys. It is called BUILDING A GOOD REPUTATION.
As the head of your family, your reputation is very important in dealing with your wife. This means you are above reproach. If you have a wife that is unruly, disrespectful and unfaithful, it is wisdom to build and sustain a godly reputation. For instance, assuming that your wife is cheating on you, that is not the time for you to go on the rampage and begin to have extra-marital affair. Some husbands would tell you that if she can cheat on me, let me also cheat on her. That is the wrong way to deal with an adulterous wife.
In Acts 16:2, the Scripture talks about a people that were well spoken off. It says, which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium. Despite the things happening around in the city, some people stood out with outstanding reputation. This is how you should handle your wife as her spiritual leader. In 1Cor.7:14, the Bible talks about how you who have a good reputation can through your good reputation sanctify your wayward wife. It says, and the unbelieving wife is SANCTIFIED by the husband….. As the head of the family, you can through your spirituality restore your wife and children back to the path of honour and pride. The times when your wife and children seem to be over board, that is when you must remain consistent in living right not because of them but because of God. When your wife or children say things that will upset you, you do not respond in ways that may question the integrity of your virtues as a Christian leader. That is true spirituality. For instance, instead of returning insults for insults or physically abusing your wife and children for the things they did to you, you return good to them That way, you are dealing with them in God’s way. In Rom.12 and verse 21, the Word of God says, be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.
Your call into the office of the husbandhood is to ensure that you create an atmosphere in your home where evil does not prevail over good but good over evil. And the first person to demonstrate this godly attitude is you, the head and spiritual authority of the family. Your home is your immediate constituency and kingdom. The way you administer the instructions of God, first, to your life and then to your wife and children will determine if you are truly a godly husband or not. Make your life count!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to see great and mighty things from Your Word.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the deceits of the times.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me to take godly decisions concerning my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
From today henceforth, I receive grace to take only godly decisions concerning my wife and children because I am a godly husband to them in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
