DEALING WITH YOUR WIFE, GOD’S WAY (1)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: John 1:1-3, 2Tim.3:16-17, Eph.2:2, Phil.3:12

As the head of the family and the spiritual leader over your wife, how you handle your wife will determine the response you will get from her. There is the right way to deal with your wife and there is the wrong way. There are so many suggestions out there on how to deal with our wives. They come from the internet, radio, television, parents, acquaintances, friends in our social circles and our culture. Unfortunately, these strategies from these earthly sources are not enduring. And that is why the Bible, which is the Word of God, remains the surest source from where every husband can draw wisdom to deal with his wife, God’s way. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how husbands should behave says, He is the way, the truth and the life. So He is the way and He will show you how to go about handling your wife. He says He is the truth. This means that whatever He tells you to do about your wife is true.

In Jn.1:1-3, Jesus is described as the Word of God and that is what the Bible represents to you and I as husbands of our families. But why should husbands use the Bible as the compass in dealing with their wives. In 2Tim.3:16-17, the Scriptures say, all Scriptures is inspired by God and profitable to TEACHING, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION, for TRAINING in RIGHTEOUSNESS that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. The word of God provides the platform for you as the head of the family to obtain wisdom keys to teach your wife where she needs to be taught, correct and reproof her in love without breaking the egg, and training her in truth and righteousness. Rather than use Biblical principles to deal with our wives, most husbands have walked according to the course of this world (Eph.2:2).

You are the spiritual head of your family and as such you must discard your old ways and be renewed in your spirit. You are the workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that you should walk in. (Eph.2:10). The temptation to claim to know it all or to be in command as the head of the family is always there. But According to Phil.3:12, you should behave as though you have not achieved much. That is the only way you can access God’s wisdom keys from His Word-the Bible. Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I PRESS ON IN ORDER THAT I MAY LAY HOLD OF THAT FOR WHICH ALSO I WAS LAID HOLD OF BY CHRIST JESUS (Phil.3:12)

SPIRIRUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with Your power to live a holy life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, show me the path of righteousness and help me to walk therein.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every trap of pride and haughtiness.

FAITH CONFESSION

I remain loyal to God, My power Source, as a function in my office as the head of the family and a godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
