Bible Texts: Gen.1:28, Rom.12:15, 1Cor.15:10, Ps.139:14, Job 29:15, Gen.2:5
Over the last couple of weeks, there has been trending news of wives who have been physically abused by their husbands. Sadly, some of the wives died. So, I began to ask the Person of the Holy Spirit, what is the root cause of this assault on the wives by their husbands. And He gave me the answer and that is what I want to share with you today. I pray in the Name of Jesus, that you will examine yourself to see if you are manifesting any of the tendencies and engage the prayer altar to destroy the ungodly forces, Amen.
As the good and godly husbandman with the mandate to lead your wife and children in godliness, there are two enemies you must fight. They are the enemies within you. These enemies are not outside but in you. And if you can handle these enemies, you will become all that God wants you to be as the good and godly man, husband and father.
What are these enemies? The first is low self esteem. The second is superiority complex. Low self esteem is when you think less of yourself. This enemy makes you think you are unfit to enter into your place of leadership as the godly man, husband and father. And because you are not in your real place, you become fearful, lack confidence, and courage to provide godly leadership to your wife and children. This further leads you to lose your self confidence. This leads you to never see anything good about your sheep, always criticizing what is good and feeling threatened and uncomfortable when your wife and children succeed. This is what leads you to want to hurt your sheep emotionally and physically. That is not the will of God for you as the good and godly husbandman.
So, how do I overcome this enemy? You overcome this monster by discovering yourself in God and His word. That is self-discovery. Now, this is what God said about you? Let us make man in our image and after our own likeness and let him have dominion….. (Gen.1:26–28). You have the gene of God’s nature in you- the nature of courage, confidence and boldness.
Who did God say you are as the man? God did not send the rain because there was no man to till the ground (Gen.2:5). Who did God say you are as the husband? God says, you are the head (leader)….(Eph.5:24-27). Who did God say you are as the father? God says, nurture your children in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4).
You have your self-worth and identity in Jesus Christ, so you are not a nonentity. Don’t allow the noises from the world, the pressure of life and the challenges you may having with your wife and children make you feel less of what God says you are. You are the confident and bold leader. Affirm this truth to yourself, speak boldly about what God wants you to do and function in your place as the good and godly husbandman to your wife and children.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for thinking less of myself and for hurting my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to discover my worth in Your word and help me live by it.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to rejoice with my wife and children when they succeed and weep with them when they experience challenges.
FAITH CONFESSION
I walk in the reality of who God says I am, where He says I am from and what He says I am worth because that is my heritage as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
