Comfort the troubled souls of your wife and children, is what the Person of the Holy Spirit is saying to you to do.
Let us consider the Bible passage below and you will understand that just as Jesus Christ cried to the Father that His soul was troubled and that His Father should save Him, is the same way your wife and children are crying to you to save them.
Now is my soul troubled and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour, but for this cause came I unto this hour (Jn.12:27)
The Scripture above was the pain and agony that Jesus Christ underwent shortly before He was crucified. It was hidden. Not everybody knew the discomfort that He was going through except for Himself. And even when He carried some of His disciples with Him, perhaps that they would be sensitive enough to discern His pains, the disciples were unable to feel the pain of Jesus Christ.
This is so important for you as the good and godly husbandman over your wife and children. You must understand that as the godly husbandman, you must be sensitive to feel the pains of your wife and children. You must also appreciate that your wife and children have their struggles. They could be struggling with peer pressure. They may also silently be going through emotional pain and discomfort. Sometimes, they hide their agonies in their smiles, some in food and others in clothes. If you are unable to see beyond the façade in the lives of your wife and children, you may lose them eventually in the future. So, therefore, you must constantly be on guard to see through the words, conduct, and mannerism of your wife and children.
But how do I know if my wife and children are troubled, especially when they are not willing to tell me? And is it possible for me to see behind and beyond them? Yes, you can see through their lives. You can discern what is going through in their hearts. You can by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. Two Bible passages are critical here.
The first is in John chapter 16 and verse 13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak, and he will show you things to come (Jn.16:13). It is the Holy Spirit that can show you the inner thoughts of your wife and children. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and He knows the inner thoughts of every being. So, if you work and walk with Him, He reveals the challenges that your wife and children are going through and guides you on how to engage them to get to speak out to you. This is why you cannot triumph and produce good reports in your leadership function as the godly husbandman without a deeper and consistent partnership with the Person of the Holy Spirit.
The second Scripture is in Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 12. For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Heb.4:12). As you give attention to studying and meditating on the word of God, light will come through for you, revealing the thoughts and intentions of your wife and children.
In all the struggles and troubles your wife and children are going through, God wants you to save them. God wants you to pray for them. God wants you to inspire hope, faith and confidence in them. God wants you to provide guidance and leadership to the end that they will be saved. You have the wisdom of God working in you and through it you can be the savior that your wife and children need.
Continue to make your headship as the good and godly husbandman worthy and valuable to God, your wife, children and in the market place of life.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I need greater empowerment of the Holy Spirit in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I receive the spirit of discernment into my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask for divine encounters from Your word in my life.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am filled with the Holy Spirit and by His help I discern the pains and struggles of my wife and children and help them to overcome it because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
