RESIST THE DEVIL AND HIS WORKS

Bible Texts: Jn.10:9-11, 1Tim.5:14, 1Pet.5:8, Est.7:6, Lk.10:19, Rev.12:10-14, Eph.6:12, Heb.11:32-34

One of the virtues that God wants you to have as the good and godly husbandman is the power to stand firm in faith and resist the devil and all the many works of satan. This is an important virtue you must have because many husbandmen have been deceived by satan and they have continued to blame their wife and children rather than hold satan responsible. You must recognize that your greatest enemy is not your wife or children but satan. The misbehavior of your wife or children is rooted in the operation of the devil, your adversary. Your adversary, satan came but to steal, kill and to destroy (Jn.10:10). Satan is the person instigating and influencing them to do the things that you don’t like.

I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, GIVE NONE OCCASION TO THE ADVERSARY to speak reproachfully (1Tim.5:14).

As the godly husbandman, you must never give the devil any space in and around your life and the lives of your wife and children. If you read the message of Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, He tells us that the devil has come to steal, kill and destroy (Jn.10:10). Whatever you notice about your wife and children that is ugly and ungodly is coming from the devil. It is spiritual corruption. Satan, your adversary, is behind their misbehavior.

So, how do I contend with my enemy, satan and stop him in his tracks?

Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph.6:12). You must put on the whole armor of God and that includes the weapons of the word of God, prayer and fasting, the mystery of the blood of Jesus Christ, the shield of faith and unrelenting confession of the promises of God.  

You are not wrestling against flesh and blood but against powers, principalities and spiritual wickedness in high places. Neither your wife nor children are your enemies. There is an unseen force that is responsible for whatever actions or inactions they display that are contrary to the word of God. Therefore, the next time your wife and child misbehave, bind the devil and its operations.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the all the armor of victory.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach my hands to war a good warfare.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes of understanding to behold the right weapons for my victory.

FAITH CONFESSION

I put on all the armor of God and by it I withstand all satanic manipulations against my life, my wife and children because I am committed to becoming the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
