NEVER GIVE UP!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Roms.4:19-21, Mal.2:14, Rom.2:10, Matt.19:5-8, Heb.11:1-2, Mk.9:23, 1Tim.6:12, Pro.3:5-6

Yesterday, the Person of the Holy Spirit helps us to understand the will of God you and I as good and godly husbandmen regarding our relationship with our wife. I am confident that your perspective about your wife has changed in line with the word of God-that your wife is not a piece of furniture but YOUR COVENANT PARTNER OF GRACE.

I want us to build on what we learnt yesterday by considering the attitude or virtue you must have as you enjoy your new found truth in your relationship with your wife and your children also. The attitude you must cultivate and sustain is found in Romans chapter 4 and verses 19 through to 21.

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. And being FULLY PERSUADED that what he had promised he was able to perform (Rom.4:19-21).

I want you note the underlined words in the passage. It says fully persuaded. As you lead your life, wife and children, you must have this attitude of never-give-up either on yourself or on them. It doesn’t matter what the challenges might be, you must understand that whatever God has said concerning you as the good and godly husbandman and whatever God has said concerning your wife and children, He is able to make it happen. All that is required from you is to remain steadfast in faith and not in doubt (Heb.11:6).

Your wife and children are good and godly heritage from God. God gave them to you to enjoy and not to manage. It doesn’t matter what anyone may have said about them. It doesn’t also matter what satan may have whispered into your ears. No matter the negative picture people or even yourself may have about your wife and children, you can partner with God and the Holy Spirit to effect the positive changes you desire.

You must also not be deceived by the offer presented to you by the devil to abandon your wife and children because of their negative attitudes or challenges. Abraham, the husband of Sarah, experienced delay in conception. Even after God promised to bless him with a covenant child, he had to wait for twenty-five years for the fulfillment of the promise. Even when his physical body failed him and there seemed to be no hope, he refused to give up. He staggered not at the promise of God and was fully persuaded that what God has promised to do, He will do exactly that and much more (Heb.11:2,6, Mk.9:23).

That is the mentality that God wants you to have. God wants you to trust Him to resolve the crises in your life and between you and your wife and children. God wants you to be fully persuaded that neither your life nor that of your wife and children is a lost case. God doesn’t want you to dwell with your wife and children in complaining, murmuring, unforgiveness, bitterness and hatred. God wants you to dwell with them in love, peace, hope, faith and patience.

You are a worker of good and godliness. And as you walk in hope, faith and conviction in Jesus Christ, you will receive the blessings from the Lord as the good and godly man, husband and father. So, be hopeful! Never give up! Keep your faith in God alive! Halleluyah!
