THE FIGHT OF FAITH IS GOOD, FIGHT ON!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 1Tim.6:12, Heb.11:1-6, Heb.11:33, Jos.1:6-8, Matt.6:22, Mk.11:22-24, Matt.7:7, Rev.12:10

Praise God! We are in the last day of the month of October 2022. For what God has done for us, with us and through us, we give Him all the glory and praise. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that the remaining two months of the year shall be your crowning moment. Amen and amen.

As the godly husbandman, there is a vital virtue that I want us to consider. It is the virtue of faith.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hath professed a good profession before many witnesses (1Tim.6:12)

As the good and godly husbandman, faith remains an indispensable weapon you require to lead and continue to lead your life, wife and children. You need faith to overcome satan, sin and the world. You need faith to overcome the pressure and tension in and around you. You need faith to do what is right from God’s word even when it doesn’t make sense. And just recently, I discovered that faith is a fight that goes on in your inside. If you can win on your inside you will be victorious on the outside.

But why faith and who should you direct it to? Faith is a fight over what seems to be contrary to what the word of God has said. A lot of the times, the circumstances in and around you appear different from what you have read from the word of God. You have to fight to ensure that only what God says stands. Faith is moving ahead to act on what the word of God says, regardless of what is the obvious. At times, you are afraid to take that step to forgive your wife and children, extend mercy and kindness to them, support them and even pray for them. Faith is speaking God’s word over the challenges confronting you rather speaking the circumstances. No matter what the negatives are, you must say what the word of God says be it in the area of your spiritual life, the conduct of your wife and children, health, finance, academic and social situation.

Now to whom do you direct your faith? You direct your faith to God. In Hebrews chapter 11 and verse, the Bible says, he that must come to God must believe that he is and he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Heb.11:6). Your heavenly Father has the answers to all your questions. He is faithful, ever-reliable and ever-capable. God acts based on His capacity and not on your circumstances. If He says, He will do it.

What do I require to fight the good fight of faith? You need courage, not in your ability, skill or experience but in the ability of God. In Joshua chapter 1 and verses 6 to 8, the word of God says this. Be strong and be of good courage (Jos.1:6-8). You also need to be focused on what God says, intensely. The Scripture says, let thy eyes be single and thy whole body will be full of light (Matt.6:22). You must guard your heart from being overwhelmed by the circumstances. Instead, you must stay on what God says and continue to declare it because you are sure that God will do what He says He will do. With the heart man believeth and with the heart confession is made unto salvation (Rom.10:10).

Don’t give up on God and His word. He will come through for you.

SPIRITUAL EXRCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, rekindle my faith walk by Your Spirit and breath fresh life into me.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to trust You and let me walk according to Your word always.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of weariness, fear and discouragement.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a man given to the assurances of what God says and I fight and continue to fight the good fight of faith because that is what sustains me and guarantees my victory as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
