THE ATTITUDE OF GRATEFULNESS

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Ps.67:5-6, Gen.2:14-18, Eph.5:25, Ps.92:1-2, 1Cor.13:4-7, Rom.5:5, Philp.4:8, Eph.6:4

A grateful heart! That is what God wants you to have as you lead your life, wife and children.

Let the people praise thee O God, let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase, and God even our God shall bless us (Ps.67:5-6).

As the good and godly husbandman, do you want to experience continuous growth in your relationship with your wife and children? Do you want the value you have for your wife to continue to appreciate and grow in leaps and bounds? Do you want to have reasons why your wife is God’s treasure to you? Are you desirous for your children to experience spiritual, emotional, academic and physical progress in their lives?

The above Bible passage in Psalms chapter 67 and verses 5 to 6 is the wisdom key to increase and fruitfulness. Gratitude is what motivates multiplication. As the good and godly husbandman, if you want to experience increase and fruitfulness in your life and relationships with your wife and children, you must cultivate the attitude of gratitude to God and to your wife and children.

A grateful heart is the master key to a world of unending progress. And that is what stirs up joy in your heart. Murmuring and complaining are disastrous tools in your leadership role as the good and godly husbandman. You cannot keep complaining about your life and expect it to bear good fruits. You cannot continue to complain about your wife and expect her to be useful in your eyes. You cannot continue to complain and murmur about your children and expect positive outcomes from them to you. As the shepherd overseeing the sheep of Jesus in your sheepfold, you must be very watchful of the spirit of ingratitude. It has the power to diminish the worth of your wife and children.

You must always remember that your wife and children are precious gifts from the Lord and you must be grateful to God for giving them to you, regardless of their weakness, frailties and failures. According to the Word of God, you should nourish and cherish your wife (Eph.5:29). The Bible also describes your children as seeds which require nurturing. And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles and their offspring among the people and all that see them shall acknowledge them that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed (Is.61:9). Because your wife and children are seeds from the Lord, they would need to be cultivated and nurtured. And one major way to do this is through thanksgiving.

You must be grateful to God for giving you a wife and children, if you want them to be valuable to you. You must show appreciation for the little kindness your wife has shown you. You must learn to thank her for the food she prepares for you. You must thank her for the care she extends to your children and parents and the time she has invested coordinating the home-front. You must be grateful to God for her beauty, it doesn’t matter the changes that may have taken place. It is when you have a grateful heart towards your wife and children that you experience the depth of their value to your life. And that is also when the Lord will bless you.

Work to grow your gratitude-altitude toward your wife and children and enjoy fruitfulness.
