BE TRANSFORMED BY RENEWING YOUR MIND

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Rom.12:1-3, Gen.1:26-28, Eph.5:25, Ps.92:1-2, 1Cor.13:4-7, Rom.5:5, Philp.4:8, Eph.6:4, 1Pet.5:8, Eph.6:6, Rom.12:21

You will observe that in the past few days, the focus of the teaching has been on developing the man on our inside because that is the real deal. Today, again, we want to go a step further by considering Romans chapter 12 and verses 1 to 3.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good and perfect will of God (Rom.12:1-3).

As the good and godly husbandman, you must take captive your mind by renewing it by the word of God. This is because your mind is what gives birth to your action, words and conduct. A lot of the times, you may not have control of what runs into your mind but you have the power to bring the ungodly thought under control, the same way a kidnapper holds his captive by restricting their movement, communication and ability to express themselves.

The greatest war you must fight and continue to contend with is the battle of the mind. It is your greatest battle in your quest to becoming the good and godly husbandman. If you can win the war in your mind, you have won the battle on the outside. All forms of ungodliness like bitterness, unforgiveness, adultery, malice, hatred, weakness, laziness, lack of compassion and mistrust you have towards your wife and children, and much more are issues of the heart. They all have their origin in the mind. If you accept in your heart that there is nothing ungodly to have extra-marital affair with another woman, you will commit adultery. If you accept in your heart that it is right to despise your wife and children and be bitter against them, you will be bitter against them. So, don’t blame your wife or children for your wrong actions. You must be blame yourself for not taking captive the ungodly thoughts in your heart and renewing it by the word of God.

But why must I renew my mind? Firstly, it is the pathway to your growth and development as the good and godly man, husband and father. ….Ye may prove what is good and perfect will of God (Rom.12:3). Secondly, it is your escape from the plans of satan, sin and the world to destroy your heritage as the godly husbandman. Be alert and sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1Pet.5:8).

As the watchman over your wife and children, you must be spiritually alert and be watchful over the thoughts of your heart and bring every evil thought under captivity.  And you can do this by making friend with the Bible-studying the Bible and meditating on the word, day and night (Ps.1:1-3, Jos.1:6-8). You also increase your level of alertness by praying in the Holy Ghost.

There is war against your headship and satan is the aggressor (Jn.10:10). You must not give him a chance. You must guard your heart by the word of God in order to guide your life for profitable living as the good and godly husbandman, bringing glory to Jesus Christ our Saviour (Matt.5:14-16).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to renew my thought by Your word and make it to conform to Your will.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome evil with good.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make my life to count positively in the lives of my wife, children and market place of life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take captive my thought and bring them under the authority of the will and plan of God by renewing it by the word of God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
