YE ARE THE SALT

Bible Texts: Matt.5:13-18, Mk.9:50, Am.5:15, Rom.12:21, Rom,12:1-3, Rom,10:10, Jn.3:16, Col.3:19, Eph.6:4

One of greatest teachings of Jesus Christ to you and I is from Matthew chapter 5. And that is what we shall be focusing on today. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you will be challenged to become salt indeed in your life and to the lives of your wife, children and in the marketplace.

Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men (Matt.5:13)

As the husbandman, it is very important for you to understand that you are the salt and God ordains you to add flavour to the lives of your wife and children the same way salt adds taste to food. This means that you no longer live for yourself again but for the blessings of your wife, children and the world. Your thoughts, your words, your conduct and your relationships should inspire, motivate and empower your wife and children and the people around you to want to become the best of God.

As the salt, your wife, children should see the nature of Jesus Christ in you. They should also see you as the canvass on which to paint their glorious destinies. Your wife should see you as her mentor.

So how do I have salt in myself and become salt indeed? The first thing you must and continue to do is to open your heart to Jesus and let Him fill you with His life through His word. The more you allow God’s word to have His way inside of you, the more of His life you will contact and consequently your life will be renewed by the washing of the word of God (Rom.12:1-3).

Secondly, you must daily confront the force of carnality by the force of spirituality. In Rom.12:21, the word of God tells us that we overcome evil with good (Rom.12:21). On a daily basis, you and I as husbandmen are confronted with the choice to live either spiritually or carnally. We are faced with the decisions to either become salt or lose our saltness.

Thirdly, you must contend to be salt to your wife and children. The Bible says that the weapon of our warfare are not carnal but might through the pulling down of every stronghold….(2Cor.10:4). You are in a fight with satan, sin and the world but thanks be to God who has made you more than a conqueror.

God has sent you to your wife, children and the world to add value to them. You must make your life count for positively, bringing glory and praise to Jesus Christ our Lord.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill my heart with your life and let it gain root downward.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy the power of self and arrogance in me.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let my life so shine before my wife, children and the world and let it bring You glory.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have the life of Christ and His Spirit in me and I am adding value and flavour to the lives of my wife, children and my world because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
