Let’s begin today’s teaching by examining the importance of the environment to our wife and children and how the environment influences them. And we shall also find out the person who is responsible for creating the environment for our wife and children to grow well and develop healthy relationships.
Consider this Scripture for a moment.
Every wise woman buildeth her house but a foolish plucketh it down with her hands (Pro.14:1)
From the Bible passage in Proverbs chapter 14 and verse 1, the woman, that is your wife is described as a person with dual responsibilities. She can either be a “builder” or a “plucker”. Whether she functions as a builder or a plucker depends on the quality and quantity of materials that the husbandman provides for her and the environment he creates for her.
Husbands, likewise dwell with them with understanding, giving honour to the wife as to the weaker vessel…(1Pet.3:7) NKJV.
Some years ago, the Person of the Holy Spirit inspired in my heart this truth. He said, “it is the kind of environment that the husband creates for his wife that determines the outcomes that he gets from her”.
Now what are the materials you must provide for your wife to build on? As the husbandman, you must provide the materials of respect, honour, dignity and understanding. You must create the environment in the home and between you and your wife and children that promotes the dignity, respect and honour of your wife. You must inspire and promote team work and friendship between you and your wife. You can influence the outcomes of the lives of your wife and children by the environment that you create for them. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman created an environment of love, team work, discipline and patience while He led the twelve (12) disciples. The results were inspiring. Peter and the other disciples could cast out devils, prayed together and partook of the communion table.
The word of God says that he who wants to make friends must first be friendly. So, if you want your wife to respect and honour you, then you have to provide the environment for her to do so. You cannot disrespect and dishonor your wife and expect her to honour you. You cannot abuse your wife and think she will celebrate you. Before God made man in Genesis chapter 1 and verses 26 through to 28, He had to first, create the environment that will make the man function well. It took God six days to create the environment (Gen.1:1-20). And by Gen.2:14, the Scripture says, and took the man and put him in the Garden to dress and to keep (Gen.2:14).
Do you want your wife to be a builder and not a destroyer, then provide worthy materials for your wife to build with. Plant the seeds of respect, responsibilities, faithfulness, loyalty, honour and peace in your family fold and nurture it unto maturity. You have the power to create the environment that will make your wife to soar like an eagle. Act now!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the traditions and culture of man.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to create good and godly environment for my wife and children to flourish.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a fruitful vine in the lives of my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I take responsibility to create and continue to recreate a good and godly environment for my wife and children to be their best because that is my heritage as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
