Bible Texts: Jn.3:31, 2Tim.3:16-17, Jn.2:5, Heb.4:12, Lk.22:42, Ps.19:14, Acts 12:24, 1Cor.9:27, Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15
There is a song by Don Moen that captures today’s teaching topic. Let me just pen down parts of the lyrics.
More of you, and less of me,
Lord I pray that there might be,
More of you and less of me.
See what the Scriptures say concerning your total submission to the instructions of God and His words in your pursuit to becoming the good and godly husbandman.
He must increase, but I must decrease (Jn.3:31)
Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman submitted to the overriding will of God over and above His own will. Jesus Christ says that if He must experience growth as He walked on earth, He must seek more of what God, His Father wants (Lk.22:42). That is the position God wants you to take as the husbandman.
Many husbandmen continue to struggle in leading their lives and the lives of their wife and children. Many more are unable to let go their traditions and cultures. Many more have not reached the point in their lives where the word of God is supreme and takes first place over their feelings and emotions. And sadly, this accounts for the increasing number of husbandmen who are yet to reflect the true nature of Jesus Christ in thoughts, words, actions and responses.
If you want to experience increases in wisdom, knowledge and understanding as you lead your life, and the lives of your wife and children, you must follow the pathway of Jesus Christ. If you want to triumph as the husbandman in your leadership roles, you must let go of self and embrace more of Jesus Christ, His words and His counsel.
There are many instructions in the Bible for the husbandman. They may not be like what you think, feel or want, but if you do what it says, you become the good and godly husbandman. All Scriptures are given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect , thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2Tim.3:16-17)
Let this words of Scripture be your guide.
Whatever, he tells you to do, do it (Jn.2:5).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not giving Your words first place in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, renew my mind and transform my life to be like Jesus Christ.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower Your word in my life and let it have dominion over my thought, words and decision.
FAITH CONFESSION
I surrender my will, emotion, thought and feeling to the authority of God’s word and I live by the rules and instructions of God in all that I think, do, say or act upon because that is the only way I can become the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
