Bible Texts: Mk.8:1-3, Ps.51:10, Acts 15:9, Lam.3:22, Eph.4:32, 1Pet.3:8, Gal.5:13, Pro.16:24, Is.43:2, Philp.15:13, Jer.31:3, Philp.4:13
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST , he is none of his (Rom.8:9).
Welcome to the fourth day of learning about the Spirit of Christ. I pray in the name of Jesus that the Holy Ghost will pour upon you the fullness of the Spirit of Christ to the end that you become the good and godly husbandman. Amen.
Today, let us consider another Spirit of Christ.
THE SPIRIT OF COMPASSION
Compassion is one of the Spirit of Christ that you have and must demonstrate as you lead yourself, wife and children. Jesus Christ is a compassionate husbandman. While on earth, He was always moved by compassion towards the hurting people, the sick, the oppressed, those who lack wisdom, and those bounded by sin, satan and the world.
As a Christ in your sheepfold, you are to show compassion towards your wife and children and not judgment. It is ungodly and wickedness on your part if the pains and hurts of your wife and children do not move you to pity and compassion. It is an ungodly attitude and you must repent from it. You have been empowered with the spirit of compassion.
In Mark chapter 8 and verses 1 and 2 the Scriptures has this to say about Jesus Christ, your perfect example of the husbandman and the Person whose Spirit you have and must live by.
In those days the multitude, being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them, I HAVE COMPASSION ON THE MULTITUDE because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat (Mk.8:1-2).
Jesus Christ was moved by compassion. Are you compassionate?
It is so easy to pretend not to see when your wife and children are hurting emotionally, mentally and physically, especially when they have offended you. Satan would give you more than enough reasons to abandon them. But if you read the account of your example in Mark chapter 8 and verse 2, you will discover that He was a compassionate husbandman. The people had been with Him for three days without food. Rather than asked them to go hungry, He had compassion on them and provided food for the people to eat and they had more than enough to eat. That is the same spirit God wants you to have toward your wife and children and the world around you.
What then is compassion? Compassion is a strong feeling of sympathy for people who are suffering and a desire to help them. Your wife needs your help to get out of that issues she is having with her health, finances, relationships and career. Your children need your help to overcome those peer pressures and ungodly pull of the world and emotional and physical abuses they may be suffering. Don’t act as if you did not see where they hurt. Don’t claim to be too busy to understudy your wife and children. Be moved by compassion to help them, notwithstanding how far deep they have fallen or offended you. That is the nature of Christ and that is the Spirit you possess.
One of the ways you can begin to feel sympathetic and compassionate towards your wife and children is by having a right spirit in you and towards them
Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me (Ps.51:10)
If you have a clean heart and a right spirit within you, you will have the right attitude toward your wife and children. You will become compassionate towards them. And with the right spirit, you will always seek for opportunities to help them.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from judgmental spirit.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be compassionate and sympathetic towards my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus; I am compassionate and sympathetic towards my wife and children, even as I work to help them overcome their hurt, pain, discomfort and struggles because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
