Spread the love

Bible Texts: Mk.8:1-3, 1Cor.10:12-14, Matt.6:22, Matt.26:41, Jas.1:12, Gen.18:19, Gen.17:1, 1Jn.5:17, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19, Col.3:19, Deut.6:7-8, Ps.24:1-3, Gen.14:22-23

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he is none of his (Rom.8:9).

THE SPIRIT OF FAITHFULNESS

Until some few years ago, I had thought that faith and faithfulness was one and the same thing until I read a book by one of my mentors in the faith, Kenneth Hagin of blessed memory. It was from his teaching I discovered that faith and faithfulness are different. One can have faith in God and yet be unfaithful in his or her commitments, duties and relationships. I also learnt that faithfulness is a spirit which makes someone to be truthful, loyal and honest in all aspects of life.

It is this Spirit of faithfulness that God has put in you and wants you to manifest in your relationship with your wife, children and conduct in the market place of life.

Faithfulness is one spirit that is lacking in the lives of so many husbandmen. Husbandmen of character are scarce in our world today. Husbandmen whose wife and children can stick their necks for are rare to be found. That is not what God made you to be.

One of the heritages of the good and godly husbandman is faithfulness both to God, his wife, children and the society he lives in. Cheating your wife or children does not fit you. Telling your wife that you are going on an official assignment whereas you have arranged how to spend your free time with your mistress downtown is unfaithfulness. Hiding your true financial status from your wife, and lying to her about your finances is unfaithfulness. Bearing false witness against someone because of what you will get is unfaithfulness. Rebelling against the laws of the land where you live is unfaithfulness. Stealing in any form is unfaithfulness. Using what is entrusted into your hands without the permission of the person who gave it to you is also unfaithfulness. Simply put, anything that you do which is contrary to the truth of God’s word is unfaithfulness (1Jn.5:17).

In 1 Corinthians 10 and verse 13, the Scriptures say this about the temptation the husbandman faces to test his faithfulness.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful….. (1Cor.10:13)

If God is faithful and Jesus Christ was faithful to the end of His assignment on earth, you and I as husbandmen have no excuse to give for being unfaithful to our wives, children and in what have been entrusted into our care. Your wife’s attitude is not the reason why you are unfaithful. Your children’s attitude is not enough reason to act unreasonable and unfaithfully to them. The word of God says that anything that wants to tempt you to be unfaithful is not peculiar to you. It is common to man. And if some have overcome, you can also overcome.

I know him (Abraham) that he will command his children and his household after him and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him (Gen.18:19)

However, for you to remain faithful to your wife and children and the world around you, you must have no alternatives to the truth. You must have no alternative to your wife. You must not have a stand-by lady or ladies out there that fill the place of your wife. You must not have alternative to work hard, righteously, and smart with your hands. Stealing, taking bribes, cheating your business partners out of a business transaction must not stand in your way of integrity.

In Matthew 6 and verse 22, the word of God says, if your eyes by single, your whole body will be full of light. The next time an alternative to be unfaithful to your wife, children and in your conduct in the market presents itself, say boldly and confidently, “I am a faithful husbandman, get behind satan, sin and the world in Jesus name”.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every power that wants to make me unfaithful in all areas of my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be faithful towards You, my wife, children and in my conduct and relationships.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus; I have the spirit of faithfulness working inside of me and I manifest truthfulness, honesty and loyalty to God, my wife, children and in my relationship and conduct in the marketplace because that is my testimony as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
