But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he is none of his (Rom.8:9).
Praise God! By the grace of God and the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we have come to the last of the teaching series we started about 8 days ago on the Spirit of Christ that dwells in us which God commands us to reflect as we lead our wife and children and conduct ourselves in the market place. I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, that you and I shall manifest the fullness of the Spirit of Christ to the end that we become a living testimony of the good and godly husbandman. Amen.
The seventh Spirit of Christ you must have and reflect is THE SPIRIT OF TRANSFORMATION.
As the husbandman, your wife comes to you in her raw state. She has her background, taste, temperaments and many weak points, some of which you noticed before you married her. It is in your power to nurture and transform her (Eph.5:25-29, 1Pet.3:7, 1Cor.13:4-7). This also goes for your children. They are seeds from the Lord, innocent and vulnerable (Is.61:9, Ps.127:3). You are in their lives to polish them and give them a reason to live (Eph.6:4, Col.3:21, Deut.6:7, Pro.19:18, Pro.29:15).
Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, nurtured and transformed a crude fisherman, Peter to a man of boldness, strength and valour; a tax master, Matthew to a disciple of the good news of salvation. The disciples knew that they had been transformed and everyone around also saw the transformation (Acts 4:13).
You wife and children know when they notice any positive change in their lives which is influenced by you. And know this truth today; they appreciate you for it. You can transform your wife and children unto the very image of God. Yes, you can. They can be better than where and who they are. You can change their preferences from ungodliness to godliness. You can alter their temperaments to conform to the very image of Christ (Rom.12:1-3).
But how do I do transform them?
Firstly, by interceding for them on the prayer altar, using the word of God (Gal.4:19). If you pray the prayer of faith for the change you want to see in your wife and children, God will make it happen (Mk.9:23, Heb.11:2). Secondly, by confessing what God has said about your wife and children, regardless of the happening around them (Rom.10:10, Pro.6:2). Finally, rejoice in the Lord and be thankful for the lives of your wife and children (Philp.4:4, Is.12:3).
Do not conclude that your wife or children is a hopeless case. Don’t buy into the lies of the world that your wife and children have reached the point of no return. Your wife and children are your work tools. You can change their raiment. You can make that improvement happen in their lives. That is the Spirit of Christ working inside of you.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of faith, wisdom, hope and patience.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the power of transformation.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be able to transform my wife and children unto vessels of honour and godliness.
FAITH CONFESSION
I walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus; I am an instrument in the hand of God to transform my wife and children into the image and likeness of God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
