As the husbandman one important decision you must make is never to be distracted in your assignment as the good and godly man, husband and father. God wants you to focus on the glorious goals set for you. God wants you to press on to the goal of your high calling as the husbandman.
There are two very important assignments God wants you to press on to and continue to focus on as you walk the journey to becoming the good and godly husbandman.
The first is to guard your home.
God took the man and set him down in the Garden of Eden to work the ground and keep it in order (Gen.2:15) MSG
In Genesis chapter 2, God took the man and gave him work to do and that assignment is to keep the garden in good and orderly manner. That is exactly what God wants you to focus on. God has given you a home, He demands that you keep it in an orderly manner and guard it from the influences of satan, sin and the world.
The second is to become a person of influence.
My sheep recognize my voice. I know them and they follow me….. No one can steal them out of my hand (Jn.10:30) MSG.
In John Gospel chapter 10, Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman affirmes that His sheep hear His voice and they recognize it when He speaks. God wants you to continue to focus on making your personality as the man, husband and father more influential than the world. Everything about you must influence and impact positively.
Now that you know that God wants you to focus on guarding your home and influencing your life and that of your wife and children for good and godliness, you must recognize that there will be resistances from satan, sin and the world. But you have the power to resist ungodly forces and be victorious in your journey towards becoming the good and godly husbandman. And if you have lost any grounds, you can and must fight to recover and restore.
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and EVERYMAN PRESSETH UNTO IT (Lk.16:16)
You are in a warfare and not funfair. You are the only person who has the responsibility to press and continue pressing on because that is your heritage and hallmark as the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my faith to believe all things and never give up.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy every root of hopelessness in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to see Your glorious plans for my life, wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am not giving up on God and His word and I press towards the mark of the high calling to guard my home and become a person of godly influence because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
