As the husbandman, how much are you willing and ready to give up for the well being of your wife and children? What sacrifices are you prepared to make to become the good and godly man, husband and father? These are important questions you and I must ask ourselves as we lead because the times we are in, many husbandmen have become more self centered rather than Christ centered.
So, today, I want us to consider the example of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, who sacrificed His convenience and everything to restore mankind back to the path of fellowship with God, the Father. I pray that you will learn a lesson from Jesus’s example and live it out for the good of your wife, children and yourself as the ultimate beneficiary (2Tim.2:6)
But it shall not be so among you but whosoever will be great among you, let him be you minister. And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. Even so as the Son of man came not be ministered unto, BUT TO MINISTER, AND TO GIVE HIS LIFE A RANSOM FOR MANY (Matt.20:26-28)
Jesus Christ paid the price so others can be free and be established. Jesus Christ left His comfort zone in heaven to earth for the good of mankind. And when He came, He said, “even so the Son of man came to minister and to give his life a ransom”.
As the husbandman, you are a joint heir with Jesus Christ (Rom.8:17). You have the mind of Christ and you have the capacity to make important sacrifices in order for your life to reflect the true nature of Christ in words, works and deeds and nurture your wife and children in the way and admonition of the Lord. God wants you to put your life on the line for them like He did for mankind.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son…. (Jn.3:16)
In the times we are in and the way God wants you to discharge your responsibilities as the husbandman, you must stand in the gap in prayers for your wife and children and pray for them, even when you seem tired. If you have only one car and you have to give it to your wife to make movement convenient for her and the children while you walk, please do.
You must always give their spiritual, mental, emotional and physical well being first place in your life, even as you also deny yourself the temporary attraction of sin and ungodliness for the sake of godly peace, joy in the Holy Ghost and eternal life. Give your best to them because that is the nature of Christ and you are in Christ and Christ is in you.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to be a committed minister and a worthy ransom for my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me not be weary of living a sacrificial life for the sakes of my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help my wife and children to appreciate my sacrifices and let them respond positively.
FAITH CONFESSION
I give up my convenience as a ransom for the fulfillment of the God’s perfect will for my life and for my wife and children because that is what makes me a worthy minister and as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
