TODAY, MATTERS!

Bible Texts: Ps.90:12, Rom.13:11-14, Matt.5:14-16, Acts 1:1. Jn.3:5-7, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Mk.9:29, Ps.1:1-3, Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15

Teach us to number my days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom…..(Ps.90:12)

How careful can the husbandman be each day he wakes up to take up the challenge of leading as the good and godly man, husband and father? It is that each day matters! Today matters for you to make the necessary adjustments in your spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, financial and relational life that will make your calling as the husbandman a worthy cause.

This is why the Scripture admonishes you and I to seek the help of God in order to number our days and make the most of it to the glory and praise of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, if today matters to me and I must make it count for God and those I am leading, what must I do?

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lust (Roms.13:11-14)

You must awake out of your sleep, excuses and state of defeat.

It is high time to awake out of sleep (Rom.13:11a)

You must take a decisive commitment to depart from your old life of unrighteousness and irresponsibility and start taking responsibility to obey all that God commands from His word for you as the husbandman. You must lay aside your undisciplined lifestyles. You must cast off the works of darkness which are drunkenness, lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, pride of life, strife, envy and all forms of ungodliness.

You must adorn the Lord Jesus Christ, the same way you wear your dress.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom.13:14b)

You must start today be wearing Jesus Christ in your thoughts, your conduct, action, responses and reactions. What you say and do must show that you are indeed in Christ (2Cor.5:17). The word of God in Matthew chapter 5 says this. Let your light (character) so shine before men….(Matt.5:14-16).

In order for you to make this turnaround possible, you must have a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ by confessing your sins and inviting Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and personal Saviour (Jn.3:5-7, 2Cor.5:17). You must also get a personal bible for yourself and dedicate your time to studying and meditating on the words from the Bible (Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.5:39). Then, you engage the force of prayers so that you are empowered to do exactly what the word of God commands (Acts 1:1, Mk.9:29). It is God who works in both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philp.2:13).

Today matters to God. It matters to you. It matters to your influence on your wife, children and in the marketplace. Make today and each day count because each day matters.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for my past failures, mistakes and errors.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me through Your word as I study.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to make quality decisions that will please You every moment of my life.

FAITH CONFESSION

Today is a new day for me and I am taking practical steps to obey all that God commands me to do because that is the pathway to becoming the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
