Bible Texts: Lev.1:1-3, 2Cor.7:1, Rom.12:2, 2Pet.3:14, Ps.24:1-3, Dan.1:8, Rom.10:10, Ps.133:1, Ps.1:1-3, 1Cor.15:33, Rev.12:11
One of the forces you must resist steadfastly as the husbandman is sin and all forms of unrighteousness. As the husbandman, you must be very careful how you live your life. You must understand that living a riotous and unrighteous life not only displeases God, it also creates a barrier between you and God and negatively affects your relationship with your wife and children and in the market place.
According to Scripture,
The hand of God is not short to help or His ears deaf to hear but our iniquity has created a gulf between us and God (Is.59:1)
Now, there are two levels of defects you must be aware of and resist, steadfastly. It is found in 2nd Corinthians chapter 7 and verse 1.
Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God (2Cor.7:1) NLT
There are actions you take that corrupt your spirit and there are also actions you take that defile your body. For example, drunkenness, stealing, adultery, lying, physically abusing your wife are signs of bodily defilement, while bitterness, malice, unforgiveness, envy, emotionally abusing your wife and children, pride and bad will are all signs of spiritual defilement. You must never allow the seeds of defilement gain root in your life.
But what is the perfect will of God for me as the husbandman? The perfect will of God for you is found in Romans chapter 12.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Rom.12:1)
God wants you to present your life as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable (Ps.24:1-3).
God also wants you to reflect through your life’s conduct, the principles and culture of the kingdom of God, which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, in your home and in the market place (Gen.12:1-2).
Therefore, to overcome the defilement of your spirit man and body, you must cultivate and maintain a sweet fellowship with the God through Jesus Christ for grace that makes you have dominium over the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life (Jn.3:3-7, Jn.15:5, 2Cor.5:15, Gal.4:19, Philp.2:13). You must also continually feed on the word of God and pray in the Holy Ghost for the power behind the word to empower you to act the word in truth (Pro.4:22-25, Ps.1:1-3, Ezk.2:2, Jn.14:26).
Living a holy life and walking in righteousness in accordance to the instructions of the word of God in the Bible, make you grow and develop into the full stature of the good and godly husbandman. Therefore, walk in righteousness because it is profitable unto all things.
