WORK, AGAIN I SAY WORK!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gen.1:4-15, Jn.5:17, 2Thess.3:10, Jn.2:5,15, Lk.2:49, Acts 20:34-35, Gen.2:14, 2Tim.5:8, Ps.1:3, Jn.14:26, Gen.1:26-28

Today by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we shall be exploring the blessedness of work as an important covenant demand for the husbandman (2Thess.3:10). The perfect will of God for the husbandman is for him to work with his hands and mind. God wants the husbandman to be productive and bear fruits through the labour of his hands and mind. Sadly, this is not the case in the times we are. There has been an increase in the number of husbandmen who will rather prefer to be dependent than go out and work.

As the good and godly husbandman, you must understand that God appreciates the works of your hands and wants to bless you through your work (Ps.1:3). What gives you dignity, honour and respect is your work (Gen.2:5,15). You must hate laziness. You must hate excuses. You must engage your hands and mind to work and be diligent at your work.

But why must I work?

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work (Jn.5:17)

Work is the nature of God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. God worked to create the heaven and earth (Gen.1:3-15). Jesus Christ worked (Lk.2:49, Jn.5:17). The Person of the Holy Spirit continues to minister to the saints as promised by Jesus Christ (Jn.14:26). And because you are made in the image and likeness of the trinity, you have the ability to work and you must work (Gen.1:26-28).

And God took the man that he has made and put him in the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it (Gen.2:14)

Work is a commandment from God, who made you the husbandman. God took the first man and put him in the garden to dress and keep it. That is work. The man had no choice with God but to work (2Thess.3:10).

The third is that work provides you the opportunity to earn income for yourself and give to others.

Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have showed you all things how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:34-35)

Work is part of your make up as the husbandman. There is no alternative to working diligently and righteously with your hands and mind. Work beautifies your assignment as the good and godly husbandman and it is the principal channel through which God prospers you (Ps.1:3b).

Therefore, don’t join submit to the false teachings that the husbandman doesn’t have to work so long as his wife is working. That is not the principles of Scriptures-The Bible. As the good and godly husbandman, you are to lead from the front in obeying the principles of the word of God. And one of the principles of the Kingdom is WORK.

Arise and work!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of laziness and slumber.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open for me opportunities to work with my hands and mind.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, prosper the work of my hands and mind.

FAITH CONFESSION

I work because the Persons of the Trinity work and that is what gives me respect, honour, dignity and value as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
