UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF THANKSGIVING (1)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Hab.3:17-19, Matt.11:6, Ps.98:1, Ps.96:12, Ps.100:1-2, Is.61:3, Ps.119:89, Num.23:19, Philp.4:4, Philp.2:13, 1Thess.5:16-18, 2Chro.20:22, Matt.7:7, Jn.10:10

Today’s message is to encourage the husbandman not to give up on God and His word. It is to inspire hope that, regardless of the harsh economic conditions ravaging the earth, there is a victory for you.

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labour of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and the there shall be no herd in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation (Hab.3:17-18)

The word of God in Habakkuk says that even though there is no fruit in the vine, the tree did not blossom, and the fields did not yield meat, there is one attitude you must have if you want to win over life’s challenges as the man, husband and father. You must rejoice in the Lord and joy in the God of your salvation. I mean, you must intentionally rejoice in God and His word because that is where divine intervention is born and faith wins.

As the husbandman, it may appear as if things are rough for you today. It may look as if your world is crumbling. It may even seem as if all your efforts and labour you are putting are not yielding the results you want to see. It may look as if you have reached the end of the road and your back is against the wall, and there seems to be no way of escape for you. God is saying to you this morning, rejoice. God is telling you today to change your attitude from hopelessness, anger and bitterness towards God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and His word to that of thanksgiving, praise and joy. Rejoice! Again, I say be joyful!

But how do I cultivate the attitude of gratitude and be joyful?

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for allowing the spirit of heaviness and ingratitude to gain root in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of murmuring and complaining.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of joy and empower me to have the attitude of gratitude.

FAITH CONFESSION

My God is faithful and His word is true, therefore, I rejoice always and joy in the God of my salvation, regardless of the challenges because that is that attitude that makes me an overcomer as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
