Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labour of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and the there shall be no herd in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation (Hab.3:17-18)
As we close out on the teaching series, Understanding the Power of Thanksgiving, let us consider how you can overcome the satanic force of complaining and murmuring, and develop an attitude of gratitude to access the fullness of God’s blessings for your life as the man, husband, and father by looking at the event where Jesus fed 5,000 people.
Jesus Christ had a long and tiresome crusade, and the people who followed Him became hungry. They needed food to eat, but there were two major challenges. The first was that it was already late in the day for them to buy food. The second was how much food will be required to feed everyone, including Jesus’ disciples.
The challenges were brought to the attention of Jesus Christ, but what they had were two fish and five loaves of bread, which a young lad had. Jesus requested that the two loaves of bread and five fish be given to Him, while others, including His disciples, seemed to complain about the inadequacy of what was available. Jesus directed everyone to sit down. He took what was available, that is, the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, and lifted them in thanksgiving. He gave thanks to God and distributed to the people. The food miraculously multiplied and increased for everyone to eat to their satisfaction, with 12 baskets remaining (Mk.6:30-44).
What is the lesson for you from what Jesus Christ did in Mark chapter 6 and verses 30 to 44?
The lesson is that whatever you don’t appreciate will diminish and whatever you celebrate and thank God for will appreciate. Regardless of the general circumstances, however, inadequate it seems, be it in your life as the man, husband and father or your resources (wife, children and material blessings), you must learn to give God thanks because it is your access to multiplication and increase. God is displeased when you are not thankful (Num.11:1). God wants you to be grateful for who you are, where you are, what you have and what He wants you to be as the man, husband and father. Therefore, keep giving thanks, praise to God through Jesus Christ, and be ever joyful.
Hallelujah to Jesus Christ in the Highest.
