He said therefore, a certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. And he called his ten servants and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, occupy till I come (Lk.19:12-13)
The Holy Spirit is saying to husband reading today’s devotional, “occupy till I come”.
There are so many teachings around the body of Christ wherein the wife is told to protect her family or marriage. When the marriage is being threatened, it is the wife who is advised to fight for her home. And this has continued to make the wife look like the victim and has increased the number of reported cases of violence and divorce. But that is not what God intended for the family from the beginning. From the beginning, God positioned the husband to protect and cultivate everything in his family fold, including his wife and children. So, Jesus is now saying to you, occupy till I come.
As the custodian of your flock and the shepherd of your sheep, it is your singular honour and responsibility to take charge and be in command of the family that God has given to you. God has delivered to you a wife and blessed children and He wants you to cultivate, protect and preserve them till He comes. He doesn’t want you to transfer the responsibility to your wife, pastor, parents or friends. When the enemy invaded where Abraham’s nephew lived, Abraham pursued and recovered everything that was stolen (Gen.14:13-16). When the enemy came and took everything that David left behind when he went to war, he organized his men to pursue and recover all that the enemy had stolen (1Sam.30:19).
A general in the army is always conscious of his authority and power, so he does not leave any room for the enemy to operate in his territory. That is the mindset that you must have-holding fort and firmly too, your family fold. God did not handover your sheepfold to your wife or children. He handed it over to you because He saw that you are noble. Don’t let your family slip through your hands. Occupy till He comes and enjoy His rewards for you as a good and godly husband.

FAITH CONFESSION
I will not let go my flock but will occupy it until Jesus returns with my rewards as a faithful servant because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
