Main Scriptures: Ps.133:1-3

I want to challenge every husband to prayerfully relate to these questions and compare with their expectations. I desire a good and godly wife? I desire a responsible mother to my children? I desire a wife who respects my parents and my friends? I want a wife who is industrious, prudent and wise? I desire children that are respectful and obedient? I long for children that are full of wisdom and walk in the fear of God? I desire to see children that excel in their academics as well as in their social life? Every husband expects the answers to these questions to be in the affirmative because that is the minimum expectation to be seen in the lives of the flock. But these expectations that you desire for your wife and children begin with you. In Ps.133:2, the Scripture says that the anointing flows from the head of Aaron to his beard and to his skirts… The influence flows from you to your flock and not the other way round.
Now, let me mention some of the changes that you want to see in your wife and children that must start with you. Honour! If you want your flock to honour you and your parents, honour them and their parents. Submission! If you want your flock to submit to you in all things, they must and should see you submit to authorities. Right words! If you want your wife and children to speak graceful words, then they must have seen you speak graceful words to them and others. Why is this so? It is because the Bible says so. In Gen.8:22, the word of God tells us that as the earth remaineth seed time and harvest shall not cease. And Paul the Apostle reaffirmed this truth when he declares that whatever a man sows that is what he will reap. Jesus Christ who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband taught on this truth. In Lk.6:38 the word of God has this to say, give and it shall be given unto you, pressed down shaken together shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. So, the next time you want your wife and children to be respectful, truthful, sincere, loyal and many more of those godly characteristics, be an example to them.
