Main Scriptures: 2Cor.1:2-4
More Scriptures: Heb.11:6, 1Pet.5:7, Ps.86:17
May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us (2Cor.1:2-4) NLT
As I was reading through the above Scripture, something struck me and the Person of the Holy Spirit inspires my heart to write on it. Jesus comforts us all in all our troubles. This is a word of assurance for a husband who is experiencing tough times. Maybe you are challenged in your health. It may be in your finances. May be you are finding it very difficult to provide for your flock as God has commanded you. May be the health of your wife and children are being challenged. May be it is your child’s academics that is being challenged. You may have reached a point where you have concluded that there is no point living anymore. I sense you are planning to commit suicide. Whatever it is, meditate on this Scripture in 2 Cor.1:4. It says Jesus comforts in all our troubles.
Note something very assuring from the Scripture in 2Cor.1:2-4. It says, Jesus….. What this means is that the help you need and the answer you desire for all your troubles is in Jesus Christ. It is not with your parents. It is not with your employer. It is not with your uncles or aunties. It is not with your educational qualification. It is not with your background. It is in Jesus. He made you and you represent Him in your family fold. You are His ambassador to your wife and children. He wants the best for you. If you can redirect your worries and fears to Him, He sure has your back and He will deliver you from all your troubles. But there are two simple steps that you must take. The first is the step of faith (Heb.11:6). The second is to engage your heart in asking for divine intervention. The third is to trust Him that He is able to deliver you. You must remember that God has made you a trans-generational agent of blessing. He wants your testimonies to bless other husbands. So don’t give up, don’t give in. There is light at the end for you. Rejoice! Again, I say rejoice!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of hopelessness, fear and discouragement.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of suicide.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of faith, hope and confidence.
FAITH CONFESSION
I refuse to give up on God and refuse to give in to defeat because I have a greater testimony to share with other husbands because that is what engenders my headship as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
