Make His Word Your Lamp

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ps.119:104-105

More Scriptures: Ps.119:130, Ps.119:11, Ps.119:30

If you have ever walked in the dark before, you would appreciate the importance of a lamp, no matter how dim it may be. One of the things that happens when you walk in the dark is that you struggle to move around. The second is that you are afraid that you may stumble on something precious and possibly hurt yourself as well as damage it. Sadly, these are some of the challenges that many husbands are struggling with in their sheepfold. They struggle to love their wives as Christ would. They are afraid that they may take actions that would make their sheep to run away from them. Some even struggle with sin, both of the flesh and the spirit (2Cor.7:1). And the result is that many husbands are living in regrets and wish they were never married while others are not inspired to want to be married. But this is not the will of God for you. God doesn’t not want you to struggle as a man, husband and father. He wants you to enjoy your wife and children. He wants you to be truly a man indeed. He wants your works to describe your worth. He wants your life as a shepherd to inspire other shepherds.

So, how do you connect to His original plan for you? You do this it by making His word your lamp that provides you light. In Ps. 119:105, the Scripture says that thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. The Bible further says, the entrance of thy words giveth light, it giveth understanding to the simple (Ps.119:130). The word of God is the compass that you need to navigate the challenges that would come from relating with your wife and children. The word of God provides the answers to all the questions that may come from your flock. The word of God gives you the platform upon which you can develop the weapons you need to dislodge every root of ungodliness in the lives of your sheep. However, you need to prepare your heart to receive His word. And that preparation requires that you are humble in your spirit by having a teachable heart. If you think you know so much that nobody can talk to you, then you are not a candidate for His leading. If He doesn’t lead you, you will definitely lose your place as the head of the family. In many instances, many husbands have become sheep instead of shepherds which is a distortion of God’s original plan for the husbandman. Therefore, embrace the word of God, practice it and you will end up the amazing husband, every man would want to be like.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, let Your word gain root in my heart and let it bear fruits in my life.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, break every root of spiritual arrogance and pride in my life and fill me with a humble spirit.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide continually through Your word and make me a profitable steward to my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION

I search the word, believe the word and act the word at all times because that is what makes me a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
