Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wife and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heir with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers (1Pet.3:9) NIV
The greatest mistake any husband would make with his wife is to be inconsiderate to her emotions, feelings and body. If you do, your prayers will be hindered. And unfortunately, that has been the undoing of many husbands. They cannot explain why they seem to meet brick walls at every attempt to move forward. And many have concluded that their wives are witches. Your wife is not your enemy neither is she a witch. It is the Bible that is being fulfilled in your life. And if you are wise you will reconsider the way you relate with her.
As the head of the family, there some truths that you must come to accept if you want to enjoy your wife and benefit from the blessings that come with it. The first is that your wife is not a piece of furniture. God created her and made you her head. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man (Gen.2:21-23). Now, do you think any father will watch his child being molested, beaten or cheated by another child who is older and stronger? No! He will not. Rather, the father will react to defend his child. That is what happens in the spirit realm every time you treat your wife as if she is a slave.
The second is that your wife is a partner with you and so shares in every great plan of God for your life. And because both of you are now one flesh, it will require both you and her to enjoy the best of God in your family fold. Read exactly what the Scripture said about this mystery. If the two of you shall agree as touching anything, it shall be done for you. And in Ecc.4, the Bible says that you may be able to chase a thousand alone, but you and your wife shall be able to put ten thousand to flight. You can achieve much more with your wife than being alone.
However, you must watch out for this pitfall. You must fight the temptation to think that your wife is a lesser person than you. Your wife is made in the image and likeness of God. So she is from God and if you see her in that light you will reverence her.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to honour my wife with all that You have blessed me.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from dishonouring my wife.
· Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower with divine wisdom on how to treat my wife.
FAITH CONFESSION
I honour my wife with the all my heart, might, soul and body so that nothing will hinder my prayers as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
