BE IN PEACE WITH YOUR SHEEP

Peace with God and man is as important as life and it is one of the most vital criteria required of man to go to heaven. Holiness is a must also. So, as the head of your family and the spiritual leader in your sheepfold, you cannot afford to be at war with God and your sheep. You cannot also continue to live in sin. It is recipe for disaster. This is why we are looking at the subject of peace and holiness today.

Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. Make every effort to live in PEACE with all men and to be holy; without HOLINESS no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:13-14) NIV. As a husband and the head of your family, do you have an alternative to living in peace with God and with your wife and children? If you do not know, I will tell you. It is war. You must not subscribe to war but peace with your sheep. Do you know the rewards for living in sin? If you don’t know, I will tell you. It is death, regrets, pains and shame. From the Scripture in Hebrews 12:13-14, two very important truths are made bare for you. First, it is the foundation of peace. And second, it is the foundation of holiness. Peace with God and with your wife and children is a reflection of a holy life. So, as a husband and the spiritual authority over your wife and children, you must continue to live in peace with your sheep. Not because, you have no alternative, but because it is the will of God for you to live in peace and a holy life. But how does this peace come? It comes by deliberately taking practical steps to ensure that peace rains. For example, your wife or child may have offended you. Satan would want to give you every reason to be bitter towards them. He would want you to harbour unforgiveness in your heart against them. However, as a good and godly husband, you can overcome those thoughts by thinking good about them. This is what the Scripture encourages you and I to do. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). Some of the blessings you enjoy when you live in peace and in holiness, are health and vitality inside your body and also outside. Another blessing you enjoy is clarity of conversation with the Person of the Holy Spirit. Your spirit must be right for the Holy Spirit to communicate with you of His plans for your life as His representative in your family fold. God made you a leader to provide leadership and influence and direction to your wife and children. Lack of holiness and peace with your sheep will not make you the godly shepherd. Therefore, desire peace with God and your sheep and live a holy life. It is the gateway to being a godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of bitterness and malice.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome every deception of the devil against my sheep.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome evil thoughts against my sheep with good thoughts.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have made up my mind to live a consecrated and holy life and also live in peace with God and with my sheep because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
