Let him eschew evil and do good, let him seek peace and ensue it (1Pet.3:11)
As a husband and the head of your family, you represent Jesus Christ in your family fold. You are like a custodian of the heritages of God-your wife and children. You have the responsibility to establish peace in your family fold. From the Scripture in 1Pet.3:11, you do not only seek peace, you ensure that it abides because it is only in the atmosphere of peace that you encounter the flow of the grace of God which passes all understanding. You also have a responsibility to secure, improve upon and continue to cultivate your flock in peace. You must develop a protective defence line for your flock by sowing the seed of intercession for them.
But how do I enforce peace in my family fold as a shepherd? The first covenant step you must take is to learn the ways of Jesus. He is the Prince of Peace. Jesus speaking said, come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Learn of me for my yoke is not heavy. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He has the master plan of a good and godly husband. He is the Husbandman. So, as you learn of His personality, you will be empowered to know how to deal with every satanic attack against your family. The second step is to keep resisting the devil. Never you let your guard down. The greatest mistake you will make is to be at ease.Woe to them that are at ease in Zion… (Am.6:1). You must be steps ahead. You must be working with divine strategies to enjoy peace. And finally, you must have a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ by giving your life to Him and accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. New birth empowers you to enjoy the peace of God that silences every chaos in your family fold. Therefore, as a husband, seek peace and pursue it.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to lead the war against the enemy of my family fold.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, continue to prompt me to seek for excellence and peace in all my relationships.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to enforce the peace of God in my family fold.
FAITH CONFESSION
I enforce the peace of God that passes all understanding in my family fold because that is my godly heritage as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
