Yesterday, by the grace of God and the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we looked at some of the practical steps that we must take as husbands to live a prosperous life. It is very important for you to know that when you give, you are not doing God a favour. You are only creating windows for more financial blessings for yourself. Let us continue. Thirdly, how do you give to God and what do you give to God? Now, when you have a special guest visiting your home, everything you do for the guest always comes with honour. For instance, you will not dump the water and the cup on him or her. Instead, you will get the best glass cup, pour the water into the cup and serve the guest respectfully. This honourable action will please your special guest. If you do otherwise, that guest will be displeased and may not pay you another visit. That is how God wants you to serve Him.
You don’t just throw your money into the offering basket. When you do that, you are throwing your money at God, dishonorably and it displeases Him. So, when next the offering basket gets to you, put your financial seed as though you are serving the president of your country or your pastor. Alongside, speak a word of love to Him. The Scripture says unto Him shall all flesh gather. This means when we come together to worship in church or fellowship, it is unto God and not man. Fourthly, do you give your financial seed of love for the goodness of God in your life and His lovingkindness that fails not or out of a need? Let me share with you an encounter I had some years ago. I am and will forever be a ferocious giver. I have given to the extent that my friend says that one day I would give my wife as a sacrifice. I had seen God bless my obedience to giving but there was a dimension I needed to get to. So, I began to study the second book of Corinthians chapters 8 and 9, and suddenly, light came out of the pages of 2Cor.9:7 and exploded in my heart. Everyman according as he purposed in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly or OF NECESSITY for God loves a cheerful giver. And the Holy Spirit taught me to say “ Lord, I thank You for the opportunity to appear in Your presence with a seed. I give it to You not out of necessity but out of a willing heart. Father, I give it you cheerfully”. This revelation opened me up to a higher dimension of supernatural financial and material supply from God. Fifthly, how do you see God? Do you see Him as an ATM machine or a loving, trusted and faithful Father? God will not cheat you. He will rather bless you. God loves you so much to let you sink into a life of lack and want and borrowing. So, when you offer Him your financial sacrifice, trust Him through and through to make good His promises for you and your wife and children.
