STAY ON THE WORD, BLESS THEM

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Matthew 6:21-23

More Scriptures: Lk.11:34-36, Deut.8:3-4, Lk.4:4

One of the greatest demands of your office as the shepherd over your sheep and sheepfold is unwavering focus-staying on track with the plans and purposes of God for your life, wife and children. As a husband and the head of your family, there are so many things that are calling for your attention, but you must be strong and remain focused and not be distracted. That is the secret to a victorious life and unending fruitfulness.

Jesus speaking says, “Let your eyes be single and your whole body will be full of light (Matt.6:22)”. As the head of the family, when you maintain your focus on what the word of says concerning your wife and children and home, it will help you to take quality decision about your family. It will also increase your confidence level in prayers, faith and declaration.  One area you must focus on as the godly husbandman (Gen. 2:18, 24) is to bless your wife and children. As the good and godly shepherd, you occupy a prophetic office that empowers you to bless your family. In verse 55 of Genesis 31, Laban rose up early in the morning, kissed his children and blessed them. Abraham blessed Isaac and he became great. Isaac blessed Jacob and he became a giant in Israel. The great word spoken by a husband and father, Abraham, brought out great and useful children.

As a husband you carry the power to bless your wife and children for a better tomorrow. When you bless them, you deposit the seed of greatness in their lives. Your word is so powerful that it can make or mar the destinies of your sheep. When you bless them, they grow up to become a blessing to you in your old age. They also become a blessing to their community. But you cannot achieve this when you allow your life to be distracted by alcohol, drugs, unhelpful associations and relationships, and the strange woman.

However, for you to remain focused and not be distracted from the tasks that God has committed to you as the spiritual leader and head of your home, you must be in Christ (2Cor.5:17). When you are in Christ, He becomes the centre of your existence. He becomes the reason for your living. And if that happens, your life will be influenced by His Word. In Lk.4:4, Jesus said, you shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord. If you are in Christ, you will give deeper attention to His word and be passionate in pray for grace to obey all His instructions. Therefore, remain steadfast and focused on the goal that is set before for your sheep and sheepfold. It is your heritage for a glorious husbandhood.
