THE SHADES OF THE GODLY HUSBANDMAN (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2Cor.11:2

More Scriptures: Mal.2:14, Ps.128:6, Eph.6:4

Yesterday, by the help of the Holy Ghost, we looked at the one of the shades of the godly husbandman-the father and child relationship. And most importantly, that as the godly father, you have greater influence over your children than anyone else. God has empowered you to define and redefine the destinies of your children. So, you must understand this part of you so that you can become all that God has created you to be as the godly father.

As the head of your family, the second shade of you is that you are the HUSBAND TO YOUR WIFE. This is very important and if you can optimize the opportunity of the godly husband, you will forever be glad that you did. In fact, it is your gateway to a world of answered prayers (1Pet.3:7). The relationship you have with your wife as her husband is both supportive and a covenant, wherein you show her love and commitment. The Scripture gives you an insight. I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ (2Cor.11:2). You are the husband to your wife and not her slave master. You are in her life to support her and not to destroy her. She is your covenant partner and not your enemy or punching bag. A few Scriptures will help your understanding as a husband. Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, GIVING HONOUR TO YOUR WIFE as to the weaker vessel, and as being HEIRS TOGETHER OF THE GRACE OF LIFE that your prayers may not be hindered (1Pet.3:7). Yet you say, for what reason? Because THE LORD HAS BEEN WITNESS BETWEEN YOU AND THE WIFE OF YOUR YOUTH, with whom you have dealt treacherously, YET SHE IS YOUR COMPANION AND YOUR WIFE BY COVENANT (Mal.2:14)

So, what defines you as the godly husband to your wife is not in the size of your bank account or your academic or business successes, but the quality of your relationship with her. And this is reflected in the way and manner you treat her- forgive her when she offends you, defend her when her life is being threatened, support her to grow into the fullness of God’s plan for her life, having continuous goodwill towards her and exercising restraint when you have justification to revenge. But for you to function as the godly husband indeed to your wife, you must see her through God’s eyes. This means seeing her from the standpoint of how God sees her. God sees her as a woman who is made in the image and likeness of God (Gen.1:26-28). Secondly, understand that she is human and would likely make mistakes and fall short of the standards God or you may have set for her. When you understand this, it will be easy for you to forgive and forget her failures. Thirdly, you must see her as a seed God has given to you hence you must continue to uphold her in your prayer altar. Therefore, make your relationship with your wife worth celebrating.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to understand the personality of my wife and guide me to pray for her accordingly.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being dishonest and disloyal to my wife.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to see my wife as You would and to treat her as You would.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I place a high premium on my wife, and I remain faithful, loyal and honest in all my dealings with her because that is what makes me the good and godly husband to her in Jesus Name. Amen.
