Main Scriptures: Eph.4:15-16

As we conclude this teaching, it is very important to note a few things that will be of immense value to you as the godly husbandman. And that is, in you is the potential of the man, husband and father, and God wants you to be useful to your sheep in all three aspects of your personality. My earnest prayer for you is that the grace to make full proof of your calling as the godly man, husband and father shall be made available to you in Jesus Name. Amen.
Now, in every organization, body or group, including the family kingdom, there is a head. That is a leader. So, it is with the sheepfold where you have the shepherd and the sheep. Applying this truth means that in your family kingdom, you are the head or shepherd and your wife and children are the sheep. This means that as a husband, you are the leader of your family kingdom. Therefore, picture yourself as a governor, providing protection and direction to your flock. In Eph.4:15-16, the Scripture says, but speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things unto Him who is the head-Christ-from whom the WHOLE BODY, JOINED AND KNIT TOGETHER BY WHAT EVERY JOINT SUPPLIES, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Your assignment is to ensure that your family is joined and knitted together in love. It is your foremost responsibility. This explains why God commanded you to tend and keep the garden, which symbolizes the family (Gen.2:15-17). You are the man to lay the foundation for your wife and children to build on. You are to supply what your family needs-spiritually, physically and materially. It is your job from Scripture to hold your home and not your wife. Abraham, the husband of Sarah, held his family. David, the husband of Abigail, held his family together. Cornelius held his family together. So, if your family fails, it is your fault. If it succeeds, it is your gain. However, for you to function as the head, you must develop a grateful heart unto God for making you a husband. When you thank God for the opportunity to lead your wife and children, your mind becomes fertile for ideas and inspiration. Secondly, consciously take absolute responsibility for your family. Isaac took complete responsibility for the family’s fruitlessness (barrenness). And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian. And Isaac entreated (prayed) the Lord for his wife, because she was barren, and the Lord was entreated of him and Rebekah his wife conceived (Gen.25:20). Thirdly, you must daily place your family before you, the same way the Lord places you before Him. The more you focus on your family, the farther you are from distractions (Matt.6:22). You are not a figure head. You are not a positional head. You are a functional and responsible head with greater responsibilities.
