WATCH WITH ALL DILIGENCE (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Mark 13:36-37

More Scriptures: Jos.24:15, Mk.9:29, Ps.16:6

Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house comet at even or at midnight or at the cockcrowing or in the morning. Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, watch (Mk.13:35-37)

Yesterday, we welcomed ourselves to the second half of the year 2021 by encouraging ourselves, who are husbandmen, to always be on guard, watching over our sheep and sheepfold. This is so important because we are the heads of our families. God has put us in the driver’s seat, leading our sheep. Hence, everything about our sheep and sheepfold rises and falls on us. So, we must be responsible to be the watchman indeed.

Let us look at some of the areas you must also watch. It is the quantity and quality of relationships that your wife and children have. I am talking about their social lives. It is very important for you to guide your wife and children in their choice of friends and relationships. Your children are your seeds, and they came from your loins, and your wife is your covenant partner (Mal.2:14). If anything goes wrong with them, you will be affected. If it is well with them, it will be well with you and if they are hurt, you will also be hurt. You are to teach your wife and children on the types of things and people that they should allow into their lives. For instance, the Bible warns that bad company corrupts good manners (1Cor.15:33). Your wife and children are product of influences-the things they watch, read and the people they meet. Don’t forget that they also bear your name, so it is in your power to help them project your name, positively to the glory of God.

Now, you achieve this by having a healthy and open communication with them. This means that you do not only make yourself available to your wife and children, you also make yourself accessible. Let them trust you with their social lives. Let them be confident to share with you their friends and relationships, their joys, pains, disappointments and fears. A lot of the times, our wives and children do not trust us enough to share with us their social lives. Most times, they hide so much information from us. We only hear when the deed may have been committed. When your flocks see you as their mentor, it helps you to take informed decision on their behalf that will minimize their mistakes, because mentors make the journey less difficult. Be watchful!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, endue me with power to diligently watch over my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from fear and timidity.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of courage and boldness, as I commit to be on guard, watching over my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am on my guard and alert over my wife and children because I am ordained by God to be the good and godly husbandman in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
