GIVE VALUE TO YOUR WIFE AND CHILDREN

Spread the love

If you are in Nigeria, the word, subsidy or devaluation, would not be strange. Over the past weeks, the Central Bank of Nigeria, through its policy has systematically devalued the Nigerian official currency, Naira. While subsidy is a term used very prominently in the petroleum industry, devaluation is used in the financial service industry. Subsidy means reducing the original value of a product or better still selling a product below its real market price. Both actions reduce the value and strength of its currency and what it can buy.

Now, what is the Person of the Holy Spirit telling you and I as good and godly husbandmen as we relate with our wife and children? God is simply saying that you and I must never devalue our wife and children. God also demands that you and I do not reduce the worth of our wife and children before outsiders.

But why will God demand that I do not devalue my wife and children? The Bible gives the answer. In Psalms chapter 139, the Scripture says this. I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are thy works and that my soul knoweth right well (Ps.139:14-15). Your wife and children are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. God made them valuable assets and so you have no right to devalue them.

As the good and godly husbandman, it is very important for you to understand that your wife and children are precious in the sight of God. They are creatures of God with enormous value and potential. In Psalms chapter 127 and verses 3 to 4, the Scripture says, Lo children are an heritage of the Lord…… as arrows are in the hand of a mighty man, so are children of the youth (Ps.127:3-4). Your children are mighty arrows in your hands. They are blessed seeds (Is.61:9). Don’t sell them cheap.

In Psalms chapter 128 and verse 3, the Bible has this to say about your wife. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house….(Ps.128:3). Anything that is fruitful is valuable and it is protected and jealously guarded. That is who your wife is. She is fruitful. She has been created by God to bear good fruits. She is a woman of honour, respect, dignity, compassion, kindness, support and much more. So don’t treat your wife like thrash.

But how do you know when you devalue your wife and children? Firstly, it is the way you treat and continue to treat them. When you beat up your wife, physically or abuse her or even speak words that reduce her self esteem, then you have subsidized and devalued her self-worth. This is why the word of God admonishes you to, likewise husbands, dwell with your wife according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife (1Pet.3:7)…… And in Mal.2:14, the Scripture warns that you must not deal treacherously against his wife ……(Mal.2:14).

Secondly, you subsidize and devalue your children when you abuse them, and do not train them in the way of the Lord. You must understand that as the good and godly father, you are the first influence over your children. It is not their school teachers, pastors or your wife. In Eph.6:4, The Bible says, father, nurture your children in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4). When your life influences your children negatively or you abuse them emotionally, physically or sexually, you have devalued them.

God commands you to give value to your wife and children and make all the positive and godly differences in their lives because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman. Please, make it count!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for subsidizing and devaluing my wife and children from within and without.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me another perspective of my role as the good and godly man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, break every satanic siege around my calling as the godly husbandman.

FAITH CONFESSION

From today I value and appreciate my wife and children at home and outside the home because that is God’s will for me as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
