Fear thou not, for I am with thee ……..yea I will help thee…For I thy Lord will hold your thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not, I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm of Jacob, and ye men of Israel, I will help thee (Is.41:10-14).
Rejoice, again I say rejoice (Philp.4:4)
Main Scriptures: Luke 17:5-6
More Scriptures: Heb.11:2, Is.49:17, Ps.23:1
And the apostles said unto the Lord, increase our faith. and the Lord said, if ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, be thou plucked up by the root and be thou planted in the sea, and it should obey you (Lk.17:5-6).
In our main text today, you will discover that the apostles of Jesus had been with Jesus. They had seen Jesus perform the unbelievable-heal the sick, lame, deaf, dumb, and raised the dead. But the apostles couldn’t do as much as Jesus did. So, when they had the opportunity, they asked Jesus, increase our faith.
A lot of the times as husbands and heads of our families, we fail to realize that at every turn in our leadership function, we need new levels of faith not just to rule but to reign. This has nothing to do with your position in church, age qualification or money. This is why you find husbands becoming frustrated with life.
For instance, the faith you had when you married your wife and before she began to bear children for you is not the same measure of faith you require when the children begin to grow. At every turn or phase of your family life, you need to increase your faith in God, derived from your deep understanding of Him. You must recognize that every phase comes with its own challenges that would require a commensurate measure of faith to handle. What this places on you from the word of God is for you to continue to develop your faith level so that you can able to withstand every wile of the devil, subdue the challenges rather than submit to the challenges.
But how do I increase my faith for a triumphant life as a husband?
Firstly, you must keep doing what Jesus, the perfect example of a good and godly husband, did. He prayed (Lk.18:1). He set Himself apart from the crowd to re-energize. He had a habit of withdrawing to a quiet place to pray.
As the head of your family, you must not allow the pursuits of life, the crowd of people, the noise around you, not even your pressing needs to choke your prayer life. In Pro.18:1, the Scripture says, through desire a man having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom (Pro.18:1). God is the All-wise God. He knows all things and has the answers to every challenge. When you connect with Him on your knees, He makes you stand tall above the walls. Never you get to a point in your life when you think you have arrived and so neglect the place of prayers.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by Your Spirit, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill my heart with supernatural faith for exploits.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to walk in boldness and confidence.
FAITH CONFESSION
I tarry in God’s presence so that I can be empowered to become all of God on the earth, and to my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
