LOVE GIVES (2)

Yesterday, I shared with you the encounters we had at our men’s meeting. Now let me share with you a few more things the Person of the Holy Spirit, said to us.

He said, “until the husband is filled to overflow with the love of Jesus, he will struggle to love his wife and children”. As the husbandman and Christ representative to your wife and children, you must have a deeper encounter with the Person of Jesus and His love before you can truly give His love to them. This is because you can only give what you have.

In Acts 3:1-3, Apostle Peter said these words to the man at the beautiful gate.

Silver of gold I have none but such as I have I give unto you….(Acts 3:1-3).

You must, on a daily basis, desire the infilling of the love of Christ by feeding on the His word-the Bible. The more of His word you take in, the more of His nature you have in you. When you become filled with His love to a point of overflow, it flows to your wife and children.

Another way to give Christ-kind of love to your wife and children is by interceding for them. (Gal.4:19). Intercession is the key to getting the seeds of love to bear fruits in the lives of your wife and children. In Gal.4:19, the Scripture tells us the importance of travailing for our flock. When you intercede for them, you prepare their hearts and minds to receive the seeds of love that you give, willingly and cheerfully and in return they become vessels of joy, honour and glory to you and to God.

The Scripture tells us that the, hearts of kings are in the hands of the Lord and He turns it in the direction that please Him (Pro.21:9). The will of God is for your wife and children to be like Him. He wants them to become as salt and light to their world (Matt.5:14-16). Above all, God wants you to enjoy the fruits of love-submission and respect- from your wife and children. But you must water their hearts on the platform of intercession. Praying that the will of God be formed in their lives is like adding fertilizer to your seed.

Another wisdom key that you must know about praying for your wife and children is that when you intercede for them, you are sowing fruitfulness into their future. As the head of your family and mentor, there is no impossible case with your wife and children, if only you can believe (Mk.9:23). Your wife can be restored. Your children can be restored. This is possible through the power of an effectual intercession. Complaining about them will not solve the problem. Physically or mentally abusing them will only worsen the situation. Simply give love and water it with prayers and watch the God of all flesh transform them for your good benefit.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by Your Spirit, endue me with power to demonstrate Your kind of love to my wife and children.
• Father, by Your Spirit, shed abroad in my heart Your love and let it flow to my wife and children.
• Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to continue to give Your kind of love to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give God-kind of love to my wife and children at all times and in all situations because that is what makes me the good and triumphant husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
