YOU’VE GOT TO THIRST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Matt.5:6, 2Tim.2:19-21, Is.51:1-2, Gal.3:13, 2Cor.9:8, 2Cor.5:17, Gal.4:19, Pro.14:13, Ps.34:15, Ps.1:1-3, Ps.51:9-11, Gen.18:19

What is the perfect will of God for you as the husbandman? What does God want you to pursue as you lead yourself, wife and children? What should you thirst after on a daily basis? These are questions that Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman answered in Matthew chapter 5 and verse 6.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled (Matt.5:6)

God wants you to thirst after righteousness. God wants you to do what is right in line with His commandments. He wants you to pursue after righteousness. This is because you are blessed when you do what is right according to the word of God. As the husbandman, you must understand that what you thirst after determines how much you are willing to give to quench the thirst. You must understand that your wife and children are dependent on you and so your life has a way of impacting on them by your decision, conduct and action. And to that extent you must pursue righteousness and live your life to please God in all things. Every day when you wake up, you must desire to do what is right and abound unto good works.

In Is.51:1-2, the Word of God says this.

Hearken to me, ye that FOLLOW AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS, ye that seek the Lord, look unto the rock whence ye are hewn and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. Look unto Abraham your father and unto Sarah that bare you…….(Is.51:1-2)

Abraham was a husbandman like you and I. But one thing that distinguishes him is his righteous walk with God (Gen.18:19). And by redemption you and I have become the seeds of Abraham (Gal.3:10-13). Your hallmark as the husbandman is holiness and righteousness. Therefore, you cannot sacrifice your wife and children at the expense of the temporary pleasures of this world.

But how do I thirst after what is right?

Have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ by confessing your sins and repenting of them. Ye must be born again (Jn.3:7). And after this, you must work to maintain your relationship with Jesus Christ. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new (2Cor.5:17)

You also thirst after righteousness by being honest before God and feed on the word of God as food. As you tell God those areas of your life that you are struggling with and allow the word of God to fill your heart, your old life of sin will fade away and a new man will be born in you (Matt.11:28-30, Rom.12:2).

Doing what the Scriptures command and instruct as the man, husband and father is your pathway to a world of peace, joy and eternal life. Thirst after righteousness!

FAITH CONFESSION

I seek after and do what is right towards God, my wife and children at all times because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
