THE GODLY SHEPHERD KEEPS THE SHEEP AND SHEEPFOLD

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Mark 3:23-27, Jn.10:1-3, Gen.4:2, 1Sam.17:20, 1Chro.19:9, Eph.6:25, Eph.6:4, 1Cor.13:4-7, Num.6:22-24, Gen.2:14-15

One of the definitions of the husbandman from Scripture is that he is a shepherd. What this means is that he has a wife and children that he needs to provide for, protect from and guide. The shepherd is the person who has the responsibility of keeping his sheep in the sheep-fold (home or family) as God commands and he is also accountable to God. So, if your sheep and sheepfold succeeds, it is your gain. If they fail, it is your loss. You are principally responsible and accountable. This is why you must do all that you can by the word of the Lord to live up to God’s demands of the good and godly shepherd. You must wake up every day with this consciousness that God has empowered you to act as the good shepherd (Jn.10:1-2).

And he called them unto him and said unto them in parables, how can satan cast out satan? And if a KINGDOM be divided against itself, that KINGDOM cannot stand. And if a HOUSE be divided against itself, that HOUSE cannot stand. And if satan rises up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. NO MAN CAN ENTER INTO A STRONG MAN’S HOUSE, AND SPOIL HIS GOODS, EXCEPT HE WILL FIRST BIND THE STRONG MAN, AND THEN HE WILL SPOIL HIS HOUSE (Mk.3:23-27)

The above Bible passage gives you the authority and faith you need to enter into the realm of the good and godly shepherd and to act like one. It also gives you the courage to stay strong in allowing only what is good and godly into your life and the lives of your wife, children and home. If you look at the 27th verse, it says that no man can enter into your home and spoil the joy, happiness, peace that already exist between you and your wife and children. This means that you have the final authority of what is permissible and what is not. God has given you that authority. You must rise up and exercise it because you are the good and godlily shepherd appointed by God to rule and reign on earth.

As the husbandman, God has called unto greater responsibilities. And because He called you to provide good and godly leadership at home, He has also empowered you with power and authority to keep and secure your wife, children and home from the influences of satan, sin and the world (Jn.10:10). Now is the time to keep your family fold secured. Today is the time to start to keep your sheep in your sheepfold.
