Bible Texts: 1Pet.2:1, Jn.5:39, Ps.119:105, 1Cor.16:9, Eph.5:14, Ps.119:89, Lk.18:1, Philp.3:10, Ps.1:1-3, Philp.3:13-14, Ezk.2:2, Lev.6:9
I have discovered from Scriptures that the perfect will of God for the husbandman is to be like His Son Jesus Christ. God wants the husbandman to grow from a baby to a son. God wants him to be matured in thoughts, words and conduct. This is why the word of God says that you and I should look unto Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith (Heb.12:2).
But how do I look to Jesus Christ in order for me to behave like Him in my thought, words and action?
You become like Jesus Christ by constantly looking into the word of God to learn of His Person, principles and power.
As new born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby…(1Pet.2:1b)
Just like plants need sunlight to grow and babies need milk to grow, you also need the word of God to grow and develop into the full image and likeness of Jesus Christ. The more of the word of God you know, the more you will be like Him because the word of God is the Spirit of Christ (Ezk.2:2). And when you desire it and allow it to gain root in your heart, it will bear Christ-like fruits in your life.
Now, why do I need to feed on the word of God to grow and be like Jesus Christ?
The word of God is the truth. It contains the principles that are enduring and unchanging. Forever O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven (Ps.119:89). The word of God provides direction that will lead you to act, conduct yourself and respond in ways that is pleasing to God as the man, husband and father. The word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Ps.119:105). The word of God has the power to change and transform. For we all with an open face beholding as in a glass, the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2Cor.3:18). The more you feed on the word by studying and thinking on it, the more you experience transformation in your spirit, soul and body.
Therefore,
Awake you who sleep and arise from the dead and Christ will shine on you (Eph.5:14)
Make a firm decision today to be like Jesus Christ. And if you have fallen short of God’s instructions, ask Him to forgive you and invite Jesus Christ into your life (Jn.3:3-9). And then start and continue to walk with the Person of the Holy Spirit for help and guidance and keep your prayer altar aflame (Jn.14:26, Lev.6:9).
You can be like Jesus Christ by the power of the word of God and the practice of same!
