WALKING IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE (1)

Bible Texts: Gen.1:26-28, Gen.3:1-5, Rom.8:5-6, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Ps.24:1, Gal.6:8, 1Cor.2:14, Jn.3:6, Jn.4:24

I have come to realize that the principal way to enjoy peace and a life of assurance and hope as the godly husbandman is to be spiritual. What keeps you going as the good and godly man, husband and father is the quality of your walk with God and His word. Infact, spirituality is the cure to frustration, depression and discouragement. And this is why in the next few days, I want us to consider the profitability of being spiritual by walking in the newness of life in Jesus Christ.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be CARNALLY minded is death, but to be SPIRITUALLY minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom.8:5-8)

As the husbandman, it is very important for you to take your spiritual life very seriously. This is because carnality has led to loss of family heritage, inner peace, salvation and hope for eternity. As the husbandman, it is important for you to know that you have your foundation in God, who is Spirit Gen.1:26-28, Gen.2:16-18, Jn.4:24). This means that you must be spiritually minded by being guided by the things of the Spirit.

But what does it mean to be spiritually minded and to walk in the newness of life? It means to be ruled by the word of God. As the man, husband and father, you must read the WORD, meditate on the WORD, believe the WORD, think the WORD and act on the WORD as way of life.

As the husbandman, your decisions and actions towards must be influenced and determined by what the Bible says. The word of God must take first place over and above your feeling, your emotion, the suggestion of man and the position of your culture and the society. This is the perfect will of God for you.

Salvation is the first step in your journey to a life of spirituality, hence if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour, do it now. Today is the day for you to invite Jesus Christ into your life.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live by Your Spirit and walk in the newness of life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy every form of carnality in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, restore to me the joy of my salvation.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself to spiritual demands of prayer, word study, fasting and fellowship with God and walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
