Yesterday and over the past few days, we have been exploring from the word of God, how you and I can become the good and godly husbandman in Christ Jesus. As we wrap up this series, it is important for you to know that becoming the good and godly husbandman after the pattern of Christ requires your commitment and genuine taste for spiritual desires. You will not become the good and godly husbandman by chance or luck. You become the good and godly man, husband, and father by taking responsibility for doing those things that are in the word of God by faith.
But ye beloved, building up yourself on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Keep yourself in the love of God for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude 1:20-21)
The Scriptures say that you must build up yourself in your most holy faith. It admonishes you to take personal responsibility for building yourself. Therefore, if you must succeed in your roles as the good and godly man, husband, and father, you must be committed to building yourself in these three things.
The word of God! The first is that you must be committed to searching the Scriptures in order for you to know who you are in Jesus Christ as the husbandman, and what God has called you to do as the man, husband and father (Gen.1:26-28, 2Cor.5:17, 2Tim.2:15).
Complete obedience! Secondly, you must be committed and passionate to obey and do all that God commands you to do as men, husbands and fathers from His word and by His Spirit (Ex.28:1, Is.1:18-19). God demands your complete obedience.
Receive the word of God into your spirit man! Thirdly, you must receive the word of God into your spirit in order for your mind to be renewed and be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Rom.12:1-2). The word of God has reformative and transformative power.
But what are the blessings of building myself in the word of God, in complete obedience to all of God’s commandments and in receiving the word of God into my spirit?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for making excuses for my irresponsible lifestyles.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take personal responsibility of building my life as the husbandman.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obey all Your commandments and pursue with passion and dedication the mandate of the office of the godly husbandman.
