THE INTERCESSOR HUSBANDMAN (1)

Yesterday, we rounded off on the definition of who the good and godly husbandman is. Today, as I sat to write the devotional, the Person of the Holy Spirit laid this topic in my heart for the husbandman.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Eph.6:18)

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto is at the core of the honour of the good and godly husbandman. Standing in the gap in prayer for our wife and children until the life of Christ is formed in them is our greatest heritage (Gal.4:19). Our leadership at home goes beyond our money, fame, or position. It is what we do with the lives God has entrusted into our hands that matters to God, and that is what gives us rest at old age (Ps.112:1-5).

But why should you and I intercede for our wife and children?

First, intercession is a spiritual seed which has the capacity to cause great, positive changes.

Second, intercession is a spiritual stamp that travels far into the future to shape the lives of the those being interceded for.

What aspects should you and I intercede for our wife and children?

We must intercede that the fear of the Lord shall be firmly planted in their hearts, so that they will always walk in truth and in righteousness and in every circumstance (Is.11:2).

We must intercede that the love of Christ be shed abroad in their hearts, so they don’t become weary serving God and His interests with their time, skills and resources (Rom.5:5).

We must intercede that they discover early, the plans and purpose of God for their lives and pursue it with wisdom, strength and commitment.

We will continue tomorrow, looking at the various areas you and I must intercede for our wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, stir up a prayer revival in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to pray aright and give me victory over the works of satan, sin and the world.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am praying always and without ceasing, using the word of God as my foundation that is the empowerment I need to lead as the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.

PRAYER OF SALVATION/REDEDICATION

Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
