EARN AND ENJOY HONOUR LIKE JESUS

There is a longing desire in every husbandman. He wants honour from his wife and his children, and he likes to be honoured by other people. Honour is one of the benefits of the good and godly husbandman, but not many are enjoying honour or are being honoured. So today, let us look into the Word of God to find out how the husbandman can earn and enjoy honour like Jesus did when He walked the earth.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you (Philp.4:9)

The Scripture mentions the following keys that unlock the door of honour to the husbandman. Learned, received, heard, and seen.

So, what do you or did you know that you have taught your wife and your children which you want them to learn from? Remember that knowledge is not only power but also influence. The more you know, the greater your influence on their lives.

What virtues have your wife and your children received from you? Have they received from you cursing or blessing, truth or lying, compassion or bitterness, forgiveness or hatred, hospitality or stinginess?

What have your wife and your children heard about you or heard you speak about? Are they good or bad reports? Are they words that edify or destroy? What is your testimony as the man, husband and father in the marketplace?

And what have your wife and your children seen you do as the man, husband and father? Can they testify that your conduct, actions and reactions are consistent with the life of Christ? You cannot say one thing and act in another way or live a double life and expect to earn honour. Know this truth today. Your life is a written epistle that your wife and your children read that influences their lives.

God has called you to lead at the home front, so you can enjoy honour from your wife and children. But you must take personal covenant responsibility to learn and practice what makes a good and godly leader. Honour is not forced or commanded. It is earned!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not honouring You with my life each day.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me Your ways and guide me through Your word.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be the perfect example of the good and godly man, husband and father to my wife, my children and in the marketplace.

FAITH CONFESSION

Today, I choose to be and remain the example of Jesus in truth and in spirit, to my wife, my children, and in the marketplace because that is what confers honour on me and makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus’ name. Amen.

PRAYER OF SALVATION/REDEDICATION

Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
